Mudguard quandry

I have a Surosa Audax [ I love it so much ] style bike that i'm targeting doing the CTC on, and ive just joined the Audax club and may well do a sportive or two to see if I really do come last each time....

The question is do I pop a set of mudguards on it? It will take the crud (mk 2) or given my target rides would people advice a permanent set?

Personally I would put a proper set on if the bike can take them, SKS are probably the best.

They are excellent. I've also added a Brooks mudflap to the rear one, but tbh it wasn't at all necessary, it's more bling factor than anything

Probably true, but I usually ride alone, and seldom ever have anyone behind me. There's often plenty of buggers in front though
