Weather's taken a turn for the worse lately so, especially with a 72 mile ride up on Sunday, want to get some mudguards for my relatively new 3-speed roadbike from the shops tomorrow.

My clearances are fine - currently run 25s but the geometry will take 37 tyres too so guess I've got plenty of room for them.

Obvious choice seems to be the Crud Roadracers

Any thoughts on these? Are they as easy to stick on and off as they look? Aesthetically they don't really suit my bike so I'd only want them on when I need them!

These look a bit more in tune with the bike:

But they also look a little on the chunky size - a little oversized for 25mm tyres maybe?

Anything else worth looking at?

To clarify - after mudguards suitable for a brazeonless 80's-framed roadbike with good clearances, something easy to get on and off as I only want them on when it's raining, and if possible something in silver.

Was also looking at raceblades, but think I've heard on here before that they are rubbish:

The Cruds are ace. It really is a <5min job to take them off and put them on. They're really effective as well - the extended bit to keep the crap of the chainset is a great idea.

I've just put roadracers on the Pompino today (easy to do), then nipped out on an errand in the rain. Impressed with how good they were as I was a little sceptical as to how effective they would be

Bit rattley front but then theres only canti mounts on the carbon fork so had to be inventive with cable ties to secure it.

+1 for Crud Racer MkII

I have tried the Race Blade type and they're too rattly. Crud Racers offer better coverage and do not rattle.

They do require a bit of fiddling to fit, but once they're on they work very well. The Zip ties supplied are re-usable, so you can remove and re-fit when needed.
