There may be a reason for that
More than likely. But I'm a complete innocent in these matters. ^_^

I have a question for the panel. Why is it you start of with a large pack of identical black socks and a couple of months later you end up with a large pile of odd socks in forty shades of black?
You are very lucky that your socks last that long...

Socks have been the bane of my life ever since I first had children (long time ago). It hasn't ended as I still have two of them living here. There is this thing under the stairs called 'the sock basket'. I put all matching pairs in to the basket tucked inside each other. Odd ones are chucked in singly. Every so often I sort it out and put singletons into a carrier bag which I then go through, triumphantly finding pairs. Eventually I get a bit gung-ho and pair up any that look a bit similar. Nevertheless, there seem to be tons of single odd socks left. These I store at the back of the linen cupboard in the carrier bag. The process repeats itself a few weeks later. Once I have a large carrier bag of singletons (the odd sock bag), I then go through them to see if there are any further matches. Rarely, I will find a match and have been known to shriek with joy (not really).

Anyway, I have now decided that socks are very cheap (Primark) and should be regarded as disposable - responsibly, of course.

My mistake! It was the posts about retro food on this thread. Sorry.

I quite like the idea of putting on a 70's supper party. Mateus Rose, Black Tower, Hirondelle, and a menu that the Bernis would be proud of. I can't decide on the mood music.
I could have aided in recommending a venue. The Savoy Grill in Kansas City had a menu that read like a museum of old recipes, all done quite well, I might add. Big Tiffany Glass dome over the dining room as well.

Not quite the dinner menu I recall from the 1970's, but still a few old favorites here and there. I had Oysters Rockefeller there in 1978. Much more a seafood place now, it appears, right in the center of a great big continent.

That's proper food. Some of the stuff they put in front of you as a main course in expensive restaurants today is smaller than the harvest from a 1970's Berni Inn toothpick.

Old socks are great for cleaning bikes and chains.
