It's stopped raining up here too and we've even got a bit of blue sky, though it was still tipping down until quite late yesterday evening. The crows are still bathing in the back field though and bugger me there were some sheep windsurfing in one of the fields I passed on the way to work this morning!

I see your tool storage, and raise you:

Lovely work. I assume your own build?
I find hand planes are like bikes, in that the perfect number is P+1, P being the number I have. I bought one on Ebay because I was using my Grandad's at work and didn't want to break it, and discovered the one I'd bought was even older. Things got out of hand after that.

Yes, I built it. It's very utilitarian, and has changed a lot since that photo.

I have just about the right number of planes, albeit I have a surfeit of number 4s. They seemed to be in every job lot I've bought, and I just fettle them and will pass them on to sons-in-law and friends.

Um.. thats not good yesterday. That electrical tingle which I had blamed on a toaster returned with a blue flash and the earth leakage breaker shutting everything down. Pulled the oven out this morning and after a fight got it's lead in cover off to find the earth lead detached. Refitted and all terminals re tightened.
Meanwhile woke up up overnight with toothache. Applied some nulling toothpaste which worked for 3 hours until I had to do it again . Just been to see a dentist, not my normal one, who could not find anything wrong. Something tells me it's going to a long weekend.

You need well organised tool storage like mine. I store every under miscellaneous.

Does anyone here have their tools stored on one of those big painted boards where the absence of a tool is immediately obvious?

For those who don't, do you wish you did?

I'll start:

No
Yes.
