It's been a hot and sunny day here chez Casa Reynard, after a bit of overnight rain.

Did not sleep well - too hot and too tired. Morning was spent making pesto - I bought a load of basil on YS in Waitrose the other night, and the pot in my hanging baskets was starting to go over after flowering. Used the last of a lump of parmesan and some of last year's foraged walnuts. Also watered all the planters.

Toast and a :cuppa: for luncheon, then did some writing while watching the Bidding Room. After, I made that batch of damson jam. Now sat down with a :cuppa: watching The Hundred.

The cat has been fed (Gourmet with ocean fish) and soon it will be time to feed me.

Another means of reporting the weather is black car meteorology. The dust on black cars has become dappled by a light sprinkling of water. From which I assume that London had the lightest of showers some time when I was away.

Living room temperature has dropped to 30.2C.

Oh, @Reynard, I just looked up your cake recipe because I've had it in the past but I discovered it's actually Zwetschgenkuchen. I admit I'd never heard that there was a /g/ in it.

This evening's hot chocolate has just been drunk.

The trip to Tesco for squash (and a loaf of bread to go in the freezer) was successful but took rather longer than expected. It's my sister's birthday on Sunday and she prefers Next vouchers - there's a Next store in Martlesham and a Tesco superstore just across the road from there so instead of a short ride into Felixstowe and back, I ended up being out for just over a couple of hours in the heat & humidity.
Needless to say the majority of the afternoon was spent slumped in the deck chair in the shade of the shed and with a lovely cooling breeze, cold drinks, the radio and some reading material.

Whoops, my bad about the spelling.

Am using the recipe from "Das Bayerisches Kochbuch" published in 1931...
