A nice morning. Breakfast served today on a square plate, but the little dish for the beans was round. They need to coordinate these things better.

I never understand why cafés put beans in a separate dish anyway.

Now, I'm going to the motor factors to see what rust products they have.

After this morning's brief bike ride on the flat bat Giant FCR (coffee stop in Wakefield at the recommended Mocca Moocho) I'm heading to Malton to test drive a small, red Italian car on behalf of SWMBO as she's busy. And no, you don't get a folding roof or much power when it's insurance group 3.

If it's a good buy then she'll be happy. If not it'll probably be my fault.

Good morning from Suffolk. Greyness and gloom continues.

Coffee has been had along with a couple of custard cream biscuits. All that's on the 'to do' list for today is shopping for travel snacks for tomorrow and seeing if there's anything I fancy for tea tonight. If there isn't, there's always the fallback option of burger & chips from the freezer. Hopefully I may also get out for an hour or two on the bike early afternoon to make up for the days spent sat in trains.

My new baby. I always fancied one of these. Gears now work perfectly after I adjusted it. Someone had lined up the marks in the middle gear like a 3-speed, but on a 5-speed, you set it in 2nd. All good now. Thanks to JSC for putting Sturmey manuals on there their website.

Need to put the saddle down a bit but I'll get it all sorted. I need to do the car today when the weather is good.

The saddle confirmed my thoughts this bike has done basically no miles as it still needs broken in. Very hard at the moment. Probably didn't get ridden much as someone couldn't get the gears to work properly.

Oh, and the fancy alloy pump is a useless ornament. I tried to use it to top up the tyres and it doesn't work.

Just sold the boardman hardtail for £75 , total outlay on my part was about £25 so not bad profit for a bike left out for scrap , kids want to go pumpkin patch later and then to a cafe so i guess the money is spent .....

Shopping done. The wind's picked up and changed direction which was supposed to partly clear the cloud cover - not a chance as it's got darker and brought in a bit of drizzle instead.

Coffee number two about to be made and then I'll look at going out for a bit.
