Home after a couple of hours out for the stroll into town to get some Ch****mas cards and sort out my niece's present. Then along the seafront and back home in weak sunshine and quite a stiff breeze.

Greeted by the lovely smell of the beef casserole in the slow cooker when I opened the back door.

It's been a bright, breezy and mostly sunny day here chez Casa Reynard, albeit not quite as mild as it's been of late.

Slept well, but a little short on sleep. Leg is continuing to improve - no sign of infection, and while everything is still rather sore, I can walk and do the stairs much more easily. The worst bit is the bandage / dressing - the itch is infernal.

Parental was pleased with her Cake Day gift of some posh chocolate nuts and a pot of hyacinth bulbs, and I spent the morning loading the crock pot with part of her requested menu for the day. Also cleared the chores, slowly.

Lovely luncheon of pate on toast, a banana and a :cuppa:

Had a slow, gentle afternoon. Everything is now ready to be consigned to the postal system at some point tomorrow. I used up all the brown paper that I had - was *just* enough. I will look for a roll on clearance or something, no point trying to replace now, as packaging seems to cost a premium at this time of year.

Now sat down with a :cuppa: and am watching LA Chargers v KC Chiefs.

I thought I spotted a gap in the showers and went out for my usual 20 mile loop...and got somewhat damp. It was also very stormy.

I can't remember if I mentioned it here but I had converted my Pioneer from single to three-speed and I'm unsure about the health of the bitsa Sturmey hub I have. It works well, doesn't slip, changes gear cleanly, but it makes a racket when freewheeling in top gear (but not in the others) and I can't seem to get the bearing adjusted right. I wonder if I something changed over the years as my internals are swapped from a much newer hub. I'll have open it again I suppose and see what's going on.

Now out for some live music.

Of course, the advantage of having a hub that sounds like someone rivetting the hull the of a ship together when I stop pedalling is that I don't need a bell to alert people to my presence.

Unless someones ring tone is the sound of rivets. Once had a pedestrian on a narrow road apologise for not reacting to my bell as she thought it was her phone!
Almost slapstick, a newly cut open carton of ready made custard knocked so a fair quantity went straight down my jeans, yes the pair the hosepipe soaked yesterday. Then mopping up reached for a kitchen roll pack not re6Lising the empty washing basket was balanced atop. One face smash by the washing basket causing the bridge of my glasses to cut my nose 🤕
