It's been a grey and less chilly day here chez Casa Reynard, albeit after a *very* cold start.
Slept really well despite waking up to a house at 13C, although the fire was still burning nicely. Snow is starting to retreat, but the house and extension rooves and the drive hadn't defrosted at all. Oddly, the car was clear of any ice. Spent the morning doing all the chores - grate, firewood, scoop the poop, take the kitchen peelings out, all that kind of stuff, and clearing up all the Christmas stuff. That's all ready to go up on the loft. The home made wreath I had on the door has been shoved in the kindling bucket, and the greenery I had around the house has already contributed towards today's heating.
Lovely luncheon of a chunk of Melton Mowbray pork pie, toast with home made chicken liver pate, a pear, a banana and a
I then spent some time mending the damage to my trapper hat. Not quite finished with that, and I'm going to replace the velcro on the chin strap with a button and buttonhole.
After, it was off to Littleport to go and see the nurse at the quack's surgery. Roads weren't too bad, the expected ice at the far end of Black Bank never materialised, but still, I drove as if there would be.
And I had the stitches out!
Still a fair way to go down the healing process though. The surgery's not prepared to sign me off just yet, and I have another appointment next Friday. And I was sent home with a wadge of assorted dressings (including the antimicrobial mesh) and told off for going out and buying my own supplies. Thing is though, there's more people in need than me, and I can afford to buy what I need.
Cat has been fed (Felix AGAIL with chicken & kidney), and soon it will be time to feed me.
