Finally we have time to put away in the right place the all the none Christmas detections stuff.
1st job all the table stuff and reusable gift bags back in the suitcase on top of my wardrobe. Then on to packing down the Christmas tree table , top back under the bed , legs under my wardrobe. Lost job bringing back down stairs the corner table which oddly only fits. In one way in even though it's been put together all square. The corner however is not totally square.

I have been doing some those tiddly/fiddly jobs.

One was to shencil the parpens. This is lifted from mundanity because I was using a parpener that is about sixty years old.

It was part of a set in a metal box with protractors, triangles and  one of those things for drawing circles, a compass. It was bought for me when living in Saudi Arabia, but is of German construction. I still have the tin and its contents.

Also ordered some new gardening gloves.

Has anyone tried bamboo pots?

No ive not used them pots but sound like a good idea be interesting to see just how degradable they really are.

Raining heavilly and the morning snow has gone, apart from where a neighbour idiotically decided its needed clearing so a diminishing iceberg.

Pondered what to do with the stick on shower handset holder now a proper rail is in place; the holder itself is easilly removed as that is a suction fit onto a circular disc that is stuck to a tile. Decided that disc could be problematic if tried to be removed.

A suction fit small circular shower mirror ordered off Amazon. It was part of 5% off 4 items offer as well as being £6 cheaper than on eBay. A new bread cutter in the hope thinner slices turn out, a pair of overshoes which had good reviews and, after ages trying find the 4th item, a pack of ear wax removers aka cotton buds added.

Was looking for a pair of mitts as all mine are either a decade + old or falling apart such is the decreased quality of Lidl/Aldi cycliing stuff but even though the search came up with some in the offer when added to the basket they were not 😕

The walk has been done. Two and a half hours out, one free hot chocolate (drunk on the go) and one free cake (scoffed when I got home) enjoyed plus a very raw wind direct off the North Sea endured on the seafront leg - no wonder there were't many people out and about today. There was also a bit of drizzle for the last half hour and it's now damp, breezy & miserable.

Before I went out yesterday's puncture was investigated and found to be a failure of a previous patch, Not where the glue fails round the edges over time, but directly in the middle where the previous hole in the tube was and appears to have worn through. Another bike has also been cleaned having been put away damp and a bit muddy midweek.

Also I think the mystery of the scuff on my car's rear bumper has been solved and the result is as I suspected. For the first time in a few days, my neighbour's car was there when I went out and there's a very noticeable scrape at exactly the same height on the rear driver's side door and wheel arch where she would cross the back of my car to park (she parks the 'wrong' way facing traffic and is a notorious bad parker). Nothing can be proved and she's not said a word but there's white paint on my red car and a bit of red paint on her white car!

A snooze is now called for and an alarm will be set to make it just a short one.

@Jenkins Similar car related damage occurred a few years ago on an old heap I was running into the ground (Insurance write of that stepson's girlfriend gave me & I fixed it up as a run-around until it died)
A taxi hit it in a supermarket car park & burgered off without saying anything. Had he stopped and apologised, I'd have said not to bother about it as it would blend in with the rest of it..
Turns out that the taxi firm wasn't over interested either until I mentioned that the next people they would be hearing from would be the council licensing department.
Suffice to say, an accident repair company turned up to fix it the very next day 😁

Confused

Apparently a 'parpen' is a smooth stone passing through two sides of a wall (yes, a new one on me as well).

Why would you need a protractor for that?

And don't get me started on 'shencil' or 'parpener' - I ended up down a Reddit rabbithole I'm not sure I can appropriately extricate myself from

@Jenkins - I would hope there is some honesty on her part. Either way I'd be taking photos of both vehicles.

@biggs682 - glad you stayed dry. I didn't, going on a 50+ mile ride today that included ice, snow, floods and heavy rain. Plus a small cake. My magnesium Carrera is looking worse for wear as a result, particularly as road salt / water / magnesium aren't a good combination.

It's been a grey, soggy, raw and blustery day here chez Casa Reynard after a very frosty start.

Did not sleep well on account of my leg. Not the wound, but the fecking bloody dressing. Yup, I'm getting dermatitis from the Inadine patch I've been told to use, and the itching gets to a point where it's painful and intolerable. So a middle-of-the-night dressing change was done, and things have calmed down now that I've switched back to a plain sterile wound pad and a Mepore over the top of that. I will have a word with the nurse when I go back for another assessment on Friday. Yes, I'd like to do what I'm told in order to get the damn thing to heal, but in this case, comfort trumps the instructions.

So I treated myself to a nice lie in, and other than doing the morning chores, I've been listening to the FA Cup football on the radio. Arsenal got off to a bit of a sticky start against Pompey, but the boys rectified that.

Had a lovely luncheon of a hot lamb sandwich (using up the last of the lamb), plus an apple, a banana and a :cuppa:

The afternoon was spent finishing off my chutney - I have eleven jars plus a dollop.

Kept an eye on a Bay of E auction for something I fancied. I totally forgot about it last week and it didn't sell. Of course, this week was a bloody bunfight and it went for way more than I was prepared to pay. Ah well, hey ho.

A quiet evening watching the snooker is planned.

My whole cottage is wonky

Whoever built it had no concept of geometry or mathematics in general.

Oh yes, and I have managed to clip Madam's claws thanks to a tip I got from the lady who I stewarded for last weekend. So at least i will now get a bit less, ah, perforated.

The old 'gentle' grip on the top and bottom of the paw that make the claws extend trick ?

I used to clip Kissa's claws when she was a 'flat cat' but as soon as she was venturing outside I stopped that................a girl needs those weapons.

I kept her in for her first 'season' (what a racket) but she went out to find a boyfriend for her 2nd season and had 2 kittens, Tommi and Pippi Tommi was a big ginger stripey tomcat and Pippi was a black stripey 'queen' (blue black and brown black stripes but only visible in certain light)
