It's definitely been a four-seasons-in-one-day kind of day here chez Casa Reynard.

Sleep was middling, but did manage six hours across two goes. And a :cuppa: and some writing was done first thing. Then it was off to the village to meet up with my friend Linda for a dog walk around the community orchard and nature reserve. Wind was icy and brisk, and we got a mixture of sunshine and some pretty hefty hail showers.

Couldn't get into the village hall car park in order to offload another three bags into the clothes bank on account of there being a wake for a funeral in the hall. Likewise, couldn't stop off at the book bank either. So just straight back home to do the chores.

A lovely luncheon of a wholegrain roll with ham & mustard, the last of the grapes, a piece of granola bar, some twiglets and a :cuppa:

Watched the installation of the new Archbishop of Canterbury whilst trying (and failing) to get the Tesco app to let me top up my phone. No problem, I was going to go to Tesco to get some groceries anyway, and could ask the bods in the in-store phone shop. But that was scuppered due to the level crossing barriers being down and staying down. And because the long way round is closed for roadworks, I just reversed back onto the drive and gave it up for a bad job. Will try again tomorrow.

To be honest though, an afternoon & evening of doing very little was what I needed.

Had a naughty supper of a cheese & onion toastie, some triple-cooked chips and a very nice :cuppa:

Not a lot of anything is planned for this evening.

Now watching a documentary about the scale of the solar system and universe on BBC 4 presented by Jim Al-Khalili
I was half watching that, but got up to make the evening's hot chocolate and put the radio on in the kitchen just in time to hear them introduce TTSSFU live from the 6Music festival in Manchester - one of quite a few that I'd like to have seen if I was in the area for the next few days. If I remember I'll catch up with the documentary on the iPlayer another day.

The hot chocolate has just been finished by the way.

I found it quite fascinating.

OK, if you're into space and astronomy and such, then some of the material covered is pretty basic, but you can always learn something. They even had a bloke playing a trumpet while being driven around in a classic Porsche sportscar to demonstrate the doppler effect.
