OK, what happened here this morning - did @classic33 get too close to the data cables with his scythe? I went to log on only to be greeted by one of those Cloudflare 502 error messages and no Cyclechat so I had to get up and do some domestics.
So did i.But it did lead to a very nice conversation with the woman across from me at the table. It seems we have been married 32 years and have two children.Anyway back to normal at breakfast tomorrow.

Had a lovely supper of sausage casserole, jacket potato and red cabbage & apple braised in cider.

Spent the evening browsing the bling listings on the bay of e. There was a nice watch I had my eye on, but I'm going to tap out without even bidding. It's become one of those auctions where things have gotten very silly very quickly.

Anyways, I now have a nice :cuppa: and a pain au chocolat.

I gave up a few years ago, trying to 'win' fleabay auctions. No matter how tatty the item is, there's always someone out there that wants that tat more than you!

I've learned to be patient on the 'bay and pick my auctions carefully. You quickly get a sense of which ones will turn into bunfights, and it always amuses me when someone ends up paying far too much.

Although it does depend what the auction is for. I enjoy vintage watches and vintage silver jewellery. For the former, I'll research the lot to find the ballpark price and set my budget accordingly. For the latter, I generally won't pay more than two and a half times the scrap value, which currently stands at just shy of 60p per gram. If it means losing out, then so be it, there's always another day and another auction.

Motor racing memorabilia is a different kettle of fish however, and I've been known to fight tooth and nail if the item is right.

Not any more I'm afraid, although I've been in contact with the importer and parts plus some bikes are still available. Blame Brexit.

@Cathryn - they're called Hammer Sport and may have stock: http://hammer-sport.co.uk/product-category/thompson-bikes-road/

Thanks so much!

Mundane, got a sunny, but very windy,15k wander around here. New little route with ups and downs.

Met the courteous DHL driver and a selection of pristine SUV twerps. They have no concept of manoevering through the lanes. Except to avoid mud. If that means taking out a cyclist so be it.

Thanks ! You just reminded me to dig out my jet washer .
