I going to my cousin's 40th birthday tonight. I regret saying I'd go to be honest as I'm not feeling like socialising.

Dry but bitterly cold and spent much of the day doing nothing.
No motivation.
Altercation with a particularly obnoxious touroid from the holiday house opposite. Blocking our parking justified by a fairy story about not being able to park by the house due to wheelchair use. The offender claimed to have the same bicycle as I do. I do not have a bike but a trike so this is obviously invented.
A neighbour from further along is also trying to catch them and they will not know what hit them. She was heading to see a family where there had been a death this morning but not unexpected when we met.

Not one of my best days and I will be invited very soon to get camera on a tube shoved down my throat.
Hope for more cheerful day tomorrow.

I ended up turning all of the wood into logs. Guess a load of larger stuff (6-ish inch diameter) is less faff to do than a similar weight of thinner sections. Anyways, it's all stacked in the garage, the sawdust has been swept up and dumped in the green wheelie bin, and I won't have to worry about doing any next week when the weather's due to turn a bit pants.

I've celebrated with a :cuppa: and the last 2-finger kit kat.

Going to have a nice relaxing evening.

I got given a load of really big logs, but nowt to smallerize them with. Axe would be hard work i'm thinking, but a good work out.

Either a long-handled axe or a proper splitting maul. I have the former, which works well enough. You'll need to use one large lump as a chopping block.

Once you have the knack of hitting the wood in the right way, it's actually very therapeutic. Although it can also be a tad sweary when the wood is knotty and your axe is stuck...

Oak is tough and requires a bit of welly, ash is probably the easiest to split, fruitwood and hazel middling and mulberry can be both brittle and knotty at the same time.
