The excitement of office life - they've installed a new cold water dispenser in the kitchen area. Due to bad design, you can't get a pint glass under the tap unless you remove the drip tray or angle the glass so you don't get a full pint. The good news is that I'm now more than halfway through a day of staring vacantly at a computer screen and pretending to work, so I think that calls for another cuppa.

More Office crazyness. We've had a series of 'seminars' from the big boss about our visions for 2030 etc, all high level stuff. Question from an Academic - For sustainability shouldn't all our catering for meetings etc be only vegi/vegan and no meat ! The boss did quite well at answering that we should all eat less meat, but that's taking choice away stopping it all together.

Back from my first litter picking. One full bag,my word why people throw stuff down I have no idea.Plus I think some has fallen out of bins. But def some people just chuck stuff down, well I am on the case now watch out.

Yes it amazes me what ends up on the ground either from littering or blown out of bins .

But keep up the good work @postman

A very springlike day here chez Casa Reynard. There's real warmth to that sun when it comes out from behind the clouds.

Slept so-so. Woke up a few times with the old too hot, too cold kind of thing. Have had a quiet morning working on the writing, but if we dodge the forecast showers, I think I shall go and do some gardening this afternoon. I had some branches come down off the ash tree behind the garage / utility room in the gale the other day, and I need to clear them up as they'll be in the way once I want to start cutting the grass. Will begin with the secateurs and loppers and remove the small stuff. Haven't looked whether the wood is dead or green yet, but I shall find out soon enough.

Have had to take half an antihistamine this morning as the mild weather has triggered my hayfever. However, the daffodils in the garden and wood are looking particularly splendid in the sunshine today. The snowdrops are pretty well much done and dusted now - but they've put on a really good show this year. And I can see splashes of pink and blue peeping out from among the daffs, which means there's some hyacinths flowering too. The cherry plums are also flowering - looks like someone's sprayed the trees with squirty cream!

Anyways, it is almost time for luncheon.

Ah ..... Spring in the Fens. My favourite time of the year, in my favourite places. And I'll be back over Easter to enjoy it!

Hah! There was a bit on the local news recently that one of the Cambridge colleges had tried that, and that the idea had fallen flat on its face, as no one wanted to eat the food and it ended up in the bin.

Tackling food waste is probably a much better option in this case. Which boils down to getting the quantities right AND having food that people actually want to eat in the first place.
