The excitement of office life - they've installed a new cold water dispenser in the kitchen area. Due to bad design, you can't get a pint glass under the tap unless you remove the drip tray or angle the glass so you don't get a full pint. The good news is that I'm now more than halfway through a day of staring vacantly at a computer screen and pretending to work, so I think that calls for another cuppa.

in the old days, before the internet, we all stood around the water cooler ...

test drove 2 cars yesterday & will drive 2 more today. spring is coming & new wheels shud be in my future ...

More Office crazyness. We've had a series of 'seminars' from the big boss about our visions for 2030 etc, all high level stuff. Question from an Academic - For sustainability shouldn't all our catering for meetings etc be only vegi/vegan and no meat ! The boss did quite well at answering that we should all eat less meat, but that's taking choice away stopping it all together.

maybe in 7 years ...

We seemed to get a new vision statement, poster on the wall, coasters for our coffee mugs. They also bore the phrase of the moment.
There were lapel badges, biros, ties, sweat shirts and so on

These programs all acquired their own acronym - BOHICA.

We're being moved over from an phone-type entry system to a video one. To do this it means having a temporary system that phones your mobile phone up and you open the door by pressing 3. This, of course, only works if they enter your actual phone number into the system. It doesn't work if they put random numbers in....

They've now put a letter in my door reminding me to keep to the appointment time I've made. Only I haven't made an appointment. Well, this is going smoothly!

Rain did not come to much today so the bonfire went ahead.
Went out later and fizzing with rage. My car looked like it had been in a heavy snowfall. The perp just shrugs his shoulders and does not care. He comes from Yorkshire and this is just a money making investment.
Had to get out my battery power washer and clean it off as otherwise it just sticks and probably damages the paintwork. Had to have three goes at it before it is all mostly off and parked a bit further away than usual from my house.
While doing this the local police constable came past and was sympathetic and suggested a variety of offences he could get the idiot for if I made a complaint. If the paint was damaged I certainly would get in touch with police and they could act. I got the impression the opportunity would be welcome.
Gales overnight and early morning should shift the remaining ash for somebody else to deal with.

Life here seems to be full of complaints so I must stop highlighting them but some things just cannot be let past without comment. Unfortunately we have more houses owned by such people which was never the case in the past. Those who came here to live in the past had some care for the local community and mostly fitted in well and did useful work. Many if not most nowadays are only here to take advantage of the tourist infestation. Others are absentee owners as is the present example.

What models??
Jeep Cherokee
Mazda CX5
Toyota RAV4
Subaru Crosstrek

won't list what I've been doing w/Son & the cars under his consideration. are you in the market? I'm sure the models in the UK are vasty different & much more economical, fuel-wise

The expected showers didn't materialise, so I spent an hour in the garden removing all the small stuff from the two downed branches. It's all green wood, so has been stacked ready to clip and stuff into the green wheelie bin after it gets emptied next week. the rest has to be done with the chainsaw - there's some good firewood there once it's had the time to dry out.

Spent the rest of the afternoon working on the writing.

Had a :cuppa: and a slice of lemon & lime deluge cake.

Also, the bay of E seller has very kindly cancelled the order that my bank wouldn't let me pay for. So that's another headache less, thank goodness. I will give it a little while, and, as they suggested, try and re-order via their web shop instead. Hopefully I can get them to honour my 30% discount.

Second day back after a week off and another busy day chez Biggs.
So what have you narrowed it down to?

just did another reply, with the latest I've been looking at
  • Jeep Cherokee
  • Mazda CX5
  • Toyota RAV4
  • Subaru Crosstrek
I'm kind of in the process of elimination, because I know that I like what I've been driving for the past 7 years, a Jeep Cherokee
but my life priorities have changed, now that my kids are out of the house & out of college
maybe it's time for that Porsche convertible, eh?

I've been concentrating on pre-owned, but the Crosstrek later today, is a new car & it's a manual transmission

Rav 4 would get my vote
