Island life has changed and the population has also changed due to an influx of settlers.
We no longer seem to have the “characters “ we used to have and the sense of community has largely gone. Many do not even know the names of their nearest neighbours for example.
There are some attempts to resurrect a community and I think that may well succeed by missing a generation.
Mass tourism has a lot to answer for.
On reflection I would move to the mainland if I could as most of my friends here have either moved or died and my cycling here is restricted by too much traffic on mostly single track roads. On the mainland there is a good choice of routes which I have used when over there.
I do have a lair in a local cemetery where my wife is buried so in any case I would finish up here.

Pre lunchtime stroll completed its trying to rain

A mild and occasionally sunny day here chez Casa Reynard.

Slept well and have been doing chores this morning. Amongst other things, did a load of laundry, watered all the outside planters and the pots with my walnut saplings, filled up the wood bins in the house and played tetris in the freezer.

Today's Watch du Jour is a Seiko hi-beat automatic with a TV dial.

It is time for luncheon.

I was having a chat with Mrsp last night as you do when theres nowt on the telly.It was about Aldi ,back in the day when they only took cash.No bar codes How did the till operators remember the price of all the items that they registered into the cash register

The same way as people working a busy bar could count and pour multiple rounds at the same time. These days people of a certain generation on seem unable to do simple maths. I believe tills even tell you what change to give now as well.
