Its been raining most of the day here.

Of course I brought the laundry in, so it's not raining.

Bin collection here was today - a day early. Blue recycling wheelie bin was emptied, and the black bag was collected. I haven't put a black bag out for four months, so figured it was about time I did. Only about a third full, but it was beginning to pong a bit.

Now have a and a slab of chocolate.

The same way as people working a busy bar could count and pour multiple rounds at the same time. These days people of a certain generation on seem unable to do simple maths. I believe tills even tell you what change to give now as well.

I think the ALDI check out personal had substantially more different products to deal with.

Another day of enslavement almost over. We seem to have a problem with too many bosses in this department, all giving conflicting directions.

Sometimes it's the small changes that make a big difference.

Here it's now being able to recycle the cat food pouches, and me switching to reusable products for that time of the month. Just those two changes have drastically reduced what goes into what you call the trash. If I now fill one black sack a year, then that's a lot.

I utterly rely on the till when I'm with customers at work; I get flummoxed when people do that thing where they round up the amount so they get a more handy banknote, and just type in the exact amount they give me and hope they get what they want.

I also confuse people because I have to count in English.

If I could count I'd be an engineer, not a social worker. I'd also be earning three times lots more money.

Modern tills do indeed tell you what change to give. One thing we always did when given a note requiring change was to put it prominently at one side till change had been accepted.
Surprising number of people when giving a £10 note claimed it was a £20 when they got change. The note was lying there as evidence of what they had tendered.
I used to work with C&E officers most of whom did not use calculators as they were faster and more accurate doing calculations manually. I had to develop the same skill as we always compared results before final entry into ledgers.

I knew someone years ago would join a long queue wit a very cheap item and be friendly and chatty with others in the queue whilst fiddling with a £20 note, perhaps dropping it once. When got to the till he would hand over a fiver and when given change would exclaim he had handed over a twenty. When others in the queue backed him up he got change for a £20. Wouldn't work now though.
