Now it appears there will be no Corran ferry for some weeks as the vessel has to be towed away to dry dock for repair.
The committee announcing this puts the increased mileage at 45 miles which I presume is to the junction with the A828.
This will increase pressure on our main ferry to Oban and we will have a reduced service on Wednesdays as the MV Isle of Mull will be off doing a run to Lochboisdale.
There is increasing pressure on Highland Council to consider a bridge or tunnel for the crossing from Ardgour to Corran.

34 miles completed on the single speed. That's a total of about 120 since last Friday, my best week in a long time. :wahhey:

I helped a very lost group of young French people in an extremely battered MKI Clio with some directions back to civilisation.😇

My plans to ride the lakeside bridal path ran into a small problem.

Had a lovely luncheon of pickled herrings in cream sauce, bread & butter, a nectarine, a pear and two :cuppa:

Spent the afternoon working on some stuff for the archive. Downside of being a former academic, the piece of writing that's being generated on this particular topic is looking much like a proper research paper. Complete with references. OTOH, I can't be accused of not being thorough - the problem with stock car history is that a lot of it seems to be based on hearsay as opposed to hold hard facts. And as an engineer, the absence of facts kind of offends me...

Tasty supper tonight of cream of cauliflower soup, steamed salmon, bulgur wheat and roasted mediterranean vegetables.

Oh, and I might have snaffled a couple of HCB as well. It *is* Good Friday after all...

The joys of independence. Any unicorns around your way? But a bugger about the ferry.

I was having a chat with Mrsp last night as you do when theres nowt on the telly. It was about Aldi ,back in the day when they only took cash.No bar codes How did the till operators remember the price of all the items that they registered into the cash register
We used to put price tags on the items to help the lesser mortals, whilst we worked from memory*.

Having gone to bed reciting the prices from the last price change. Barcodes hampered this as the machines often disagreed.

Could get a bit complicated with cruise liner passengers or prime suspects tour buses. Tour bus passengers were among the worst shoplifters and had to be watched carefully. We never actually prosecuted any as too complicated and time consuming and it was generally small pocketable items not particularly valuable.
We had the police waiting to talk with a passenger who'd "borrowed" some items from a shop. Driver was well known to the shop staff, and he had us have the police waiting rather than delay the rest of the passengers, some had onward connections to make.

Brands Hatch on Saturday for the first day of the British Truck Racing championship round. It'll be way too busy for me on the Sunday so I'll head to Snetterton instead, with the advantage that I should be able to get a decent bike ride in between the races that I want to see.

Pickup trucks, huh?

They build them just up the road from Casa Reynard.
