There is a body of thought in parts of the campervan community that they are above petty regulations.
True and I had a succession of towing caravans and camper vans ending with a coachbuilt since the mid 1960s so I have some insight.
Any large group does tend to be a bit badly behaved.
West Highland Week for yotties was a problem as the arrival of about 100 boats meant some of them did not bother to anchor but rafted up to any local boat on a mooring without permission and chuck their rubbish into the cockpit. I once went and dumped the lot of rubbish on to the deck of the committee boat with a few choice words of explanation.
I went out to chase one lot with 2 larger boats rafted up to my 26ft boat. I was told by one skipper, a hotel owner from Fort William, that I had clearly failed charm school

Scuba divers tended to be as bad and even cyclists when we had an annual Round Mull event which attracted about 130 entries from away obstructed my domestic parking with 3 cars as they could not be bothered driving round to the other side of the holiday house to the provided parking place.
I will not go into the subject of the annual Mull Car Rally as I cannot use enough swear words on line.
