I have also accomplished a great deal of grass cutting. Also mowed the daffodil / narcissi green. I'd rather not have done, but looking at the forecast for the next week, by the time it dries out again, the nettles that are coming up through them will be shoulder high.

I now have a :cuppa: and a Min Spy.

Not much voting choice here, but the Conservatives have been REALLY desperate to hang on, because I've had so many blue leaflets through the letter box in the last month. Lost on me, I'm afraid, but they've been useful to light the fire.

My daughter who is a Nurse sent me this:

Turns out that they really are better organised than a few years ago and this was indeed a different appointment, working out what my qualifications are and how best to use them. This is important because my job title in German is sufficiently similar to that for "Kindergarten teacher" that it trips the algorithms on the Employment Agency computers and I don't want to be inundated with offers to work with kids.

Went to the local office where some really helpfull staff sorted out my forms and took 20 minutes to get the printer to work. This is why I insist on not doing my application online; if the Agency can't get the printer to talk to the computers, what are the chances my application will vanish into the ether?

Two things I forgot to mention on my dog walk in & around Brixworth this morning.
1: I collected a bag of sheep's wool, off some fencing, which is now on the fence at the bottom of my garden ready to be snaffled by nesting birds.

2: I walked past a garage on the old, long bypassed, main road and they pump the fuel for you!! I can't remember the last time I saw anything other than self serve ⛽

Sheep’s wool was collected off fences and suchlike at my grandparents croft. This was bagged and sent to Hunter’s of Brora wool mill to be spun into knitting yarn. You got back the equivalent weight but doubtful if you got back your own wool. No idea what the charge was for this.

I have voted. Tbh not much of a choice 🤔

Dropped off our postal votes earlier this week. Normal vote on the way home from walking the dog. They know him well so he like's getting a fuss. But moved to postal since ID was bought in. We've not much choice either it's red donkey county so little chance of change.
Someone I know well having work worked closely with when I was chair of our local partnership. Was standing so they got our vote they are also the only one who actually lives in our ward.

There's at least two in this town that still have pump attendants.

TBH, I prefer to do it myself as when I was still driving the 205, I found using a key to manually unlock the pedal cap seemed to be beyond the intellectual ability of the average teenager and I usually had to get out and do it for them.

Now that I've got a Toyota, I can revel in that great Japanese tradition of having a cable-operated petrol flap so I can open it for them by pulling the little lever beside the seat. :becool:
