Afternoon.
It is a lovely sunny day here. I had to rush this morning . I rang my friend who rang me last night to see if I wanted to go for a ride today . Last night I felt so knacked that I didn't think I would be able to do anything today . I managed to contact my friend and we arranged to go this morning. I decided that it would be an opportunity to test my Viscount Apollo Tourer . I borrowed a pair of wheels as the ones on the bike are stiff and notchy . I tried to put the chain on but the rivets in the chain were like the ones used on the Titanic ! Solid and the chain splitter wouldn't touch them . Out with the Dremel ! I found and old chain that had been soaking in oil and fitted that . I seemed to have mislaid a few nuts since dismantling it after picking the bike up . I needed to borrow a nut to hold a brake caliper on .
My friend arrived before I finished ! I quickly put my cycling clobber on and off we went . My initial thought was that the saddle was hard ! I soon settled in to it . I was amazed by how light and agile the bike felt ! I weighed it this morning and it weighed 25 lbs ! Heavy compared with my other bikes . The bike felt so smooth ! I was enjoying my ride . We just pootled along at a leisurely pace , no rush! We stopped at Lacock for a cup of tea and then made our way back . I think we did 12 miles . I was surprised that I didn't feel tired after the ride. Not sure if it was down to the smooth ride but I am pleasantly surprised by how it went .

Very low cloud so a bit drizzly for a while this morning but it has now mostly cleared up.
Nothing really useful done today tho’ I did make some pancakes and since I do not like it much I put in
a couple of spoonfuls of lemon and lime marmalade. Worked out ok tho’ all my experiments are not always successful.
Ferry woes continue as one of the boats doing Fishnish/Lochaline has broken down and the one left is not doing the last run at 1835 and the return at 1900. Nasty if you are already well down the road as doubtful if any accommodation at either side and a long way back.
I think you currently have to produce written evidence of Mull residence to get priority on the Craignure /Oban crossing and no non residents can join the standby queue either. Since most utility bills are now digital only this could cause problems. A driving license does have the address but the photo on mine is pretty old and not really very like my current appearance.

Having trouble keeping my eyes open after lunch. Still, I've managed to pant a rhododendron.
DiL dog had to be put down last night, he was 14 & as sweet natured as any. Probably down to him that we bought our pup.
so handsome!
so sorry for the loss of a family companion. here's wishing you & your family strength right now & nothing but the best memories

a post lunch nap, sounds excellent

Easily done. What a tosh circuit.

Not as pants as Barcelona. Or anything designed by Hermann Tilke.
