Ming the Merciless

Inside my skull
Had a lovely morning ride and now cooking a chicken, bacon and pasta dish.

A warm and occasionally sunny day here chez Casa Reynard.

Didn't sleep well. Felt like I only dozed the entire night. Didn't help that I got bitten by some bug or other, which resulted in a lump the size of a 50p bit on my elbow that was insanely itchy. My daily dose of antihistamines have taken care of the itchy bit, but the lump is still painful. Ah well, hey ho...

Spent the morning a) helping the parental with some paperwork and b) puttering about in the garden.

It is now time for luncheon.

Spent ages this morning fighting SSE/OVO regarding the massive increase in my direct debit. It would have helped if I could have understood what the woman in the bl—-y call centre was saying. They refused to deal online.
Got a slight reduction but they base their figures on winter consumption for the whole year and are reluctant to pay back any surplus cash. The old Hydro Board was easier to deal with and I could understand whatever they were saying.

On a brighter note my tyres are fitted and the Marathon Plus went on with no problem. One of these gadgets to pull the tyre over the rim made it simple. I have used Presta valves for many years but now I prefer Schraeder as my recent experience of Presta is not encouraging but with this trike it is unfortunately Presta.

Somebody on a local FB page ( not me) has started complaining about misuse of Blue Badge parking spaces.
Symptomatic of the whole parking debacle.
I notice a Motorhome has taken up residence on one of the main upper town streets.

Titan yer tummy

No meatings b4 dinner!
Oh, a large Spider (probably the same one that I rescued from the bath the other day and has generally been stalking about the house) has decided to build a nest on my living room ceiling. Yes yes, I should have cleaned the place a bit better, but it's right in a corner, so hardly any 'biggie'.

Now, here's the thing, I really don't mind Spiders, but is it ok for them to stay, or should I incur the (small) wrath of an angry Mother Spider and remove/move it?

Thank you to the pretty lady in the red Nissan Juke who paid for my A57 toll bridge without me knowing.

Oh I have been having fun !
I have a ladies Claud Butler frame which had the Left crank stuck on the BB axle. I carried it round to my friends to try and press it off on his hydraulic press. It wouldn't fit . We tried heating it up and using the crank removing tool . Wouldn't budge ! We tried heating it and using a large Allen socket and breaker bar. At last some movement! All that was happening was the tool was cutting a thread on its end and it was screwing into the BB.
I walked home pushing my bike and carried the frame .
This afternoon I set about it again . I started drilling a series of holes down to the square shaft and then joined them up using a hacksaw. I tried the puller again but it still wouldn't budge. I ended up using a chisel to open up the gap and it came of all of a sudden.
It was on tight!
