You probably moved quicker than the traffic on the A61

Certainly the traffic on the climb into Killinghall where there's temporary traffic lights for electric work.

Had a lovely luncheon of one slice of wholemeal toast with smoked mackerel and one sandwich thin with Gouda. Plus an apricot, an apple, some blueberries and two :cuppa:

That's the wholemeal bread, sandwich thins and Gouda all ated up.

Marmalade is currently on the go. Just having a wee break before sorting out an appropriate number of jars.

Mostly rain today but there was a brief respite when I went out and checked my car tyre pressures. One wheel has a very slow leak and sure enough needed a touch more air. Gives me no problems as long as I keep an eye on it. Local garage is not keen to investigate further.

The last ferry today is cancelled and the time of sailing brought forward as apparently a problem with the gyro compass means she cannot sail after dark. This is the one we used to call the midnight runner when it did in fact often sail about midnight on a Friday. Gave an interesting race on the 21 miles to Tobermory as all local vehicles went flat out for home. The ones from the south end had up to 40 miles to go.
Nowadays they cannot even manage to get one not long after ten o'clock to run as there is always some excuse to cancel.

Parking in this small enclave is getting to be a bad joke. Today there were five cars who were all strangers and think a residential area is a good place to leave their car for the day. For ten occupied houses there are just twelve parking possibilities and a couple of those have two vehicles.
We generally manage but it only takes one stranger to put the whole thing out of coulter and five means tempers are getting a bit frayed.
One resident has put up a row of signs to indicate resident parking but these are ignored by the touroid.

Normal fixture nearly TTLs in Killinghall and can last for ages as I gather mapped records of where underground services are do not always turn out to be correct.

Not only that but the local council can tar over vital manholes.
We once had to measure carefully looking for a sewer access as the distillery toilets about 50 ft higher were blocked. This was on the main street and we had to get a road opening permit. When we found it the pipe was dry so we had lots of drain rods which were shoved up the pipe. Rods withdrawn and Ted was in the hole listening. He suddenly shouted "RUN" and scrambled out and ran and sure enough a fountain of sewage erupted. Everybody else ran to safety as well but a passing car was plastered.
We took it into the distillery yard and he got a free car wash and a sealed bottle of whisky in compensation.

I'm nearly back from my 'Walking plus a few miles on the Brommie Day'.

Lovely 10 mile hike from Youlgreave to Lathkill Dale then a pedal around the village and off to Brabourne, a Doubly Thankful village.
