The ebike had nice slightly shaded sun bathe this afternoon only for it to start raining when I was going to use it this evening so quickly back into its shed.
So out in the unwell car. Seemed okay and was thinking of cancelling it's visit to the repair garage next Tuesday until heading down Humps and a hill whereupon it started squeaking and which became quite loud as I turned onto the A61. Stopped and when I restarted the squeaking had gone  The car borne visit to Sainsbury's had seen a little bit more bought than if I had gone by the ebike, such as a dozen J2O cans.

Survived the staff summer social, and remembered there are worse places to ride home from a party.

Mrs Dr B and myself are having a long weekend in Lille. We went to a restaurant this evening that had areas painted in different colours. The waiter asked us to pick an area. I was pleased with myself that I’d got the gist of his instructions, but then looked up and realised that, being quite badly colourblind, I couldn’t actually discern the colours. The waiter repeated his question in English, which was kind but really not the problem at hand. It was all very awkward.

The word you needed was ''daltonien''. It's a bit late now though..... (I've no idea who Dalton was.)

Well, flip my hat, I never knew that!

Mrs Dr B and myself are both lapsed physicists. In my case my research area was around atomic physics (positrons to be exact) so I know exactly who John Dalton was. I didn’t know he’d researched colourblindness though.

My second year undergrad supervisor was a biophysicist who had a grant to study colourblindness. It turned out that a blue-eyed Bollo who had very very few green cones was the ideal test subject for his experiments, so I learned quite a lot about the condition. TL;DR; you don’t want me rewiring your house.
