Hot and humid here chez Casa Reynard, with a side helping of thunder bugs.
Slept well, though I did have the *oddest* dream involving a girl guide camp, a racing driver (and his wife) and a lightbulb. This morning's tasks included watering the triffids, cleaning up the pile of cat sick that I inadvertently stepped in and fixing the grill in the oven. It hadn't worked for a while but now it does. Yayyyy! I can have cheese on toast again. I *do* need to clean the oven though. If anyone saw thick clouds of smoke earlier, that was me. Whoops.
I had a furry visitor in the hallway last night. I think I've worked out where the little sods have chewed another hole through the mortar, so I shall be sledgehammering a brick in there later too. I had intended on replacing all the mortar on that side of the house anyway due to frost damage and poor "dad design", so I shall be doing that after the weekend, methinks.
What I mean by "dad design" - he did the path himself (kudos), but didn't leave a gap between the path and the bottom of the render to take soil movement into account (he actually built it up into an L-shape because "it looks better"). So the concrete has pulled away the bottom section of render and some of the bricks along the side of the extension where the path has moved, and the rats have been getting in through the weak point.
Aaaaaaanyways, it is time for luncheon and I has a hungry.
