Early ferry cancelled this morning but does not seem to windy here and the sun is currently shining

Some earlier posts remind me that we have no magpies here or foxes either.
Local phone numbers were never used. We just asked for the person by name and the exchange hunted them down even if not at home. The local GP was even on a couple of occasions brought in from the golf course. There was no privacy either as the exchange knew every facet of local gossip.

My new 'phone' arrives shortly. My contract's up and the previous 'discounts' were going, so, unlike me, I've gone for a 'latest' phone as it actually was no more than my current contract was going to be. I usually opt for a phone that's been out a year for a better price, and usually the 'cut down version'.

My Samsung S20 FE was the bargain basement S20 at the time, but for the same money, twice the data I'm getting a S23 Ultra. Looking forward to the camera capabilities TBH. My old phone was great, but the optical zoom on the new one is very impressive. Added bonus, was an email this morning saying Voda weren't charging a flexi upgrade fee - they've waived the £70.

I didn't like driving in the centre of Bristol in the dark. It was literally dark despite the street lights . Street lights don't seem to light the ground , they just seem to be more like Christmas tree lights made to make the place look pretty . People on electric scooters everywhere wearing dark clothing and no helmets and hardly any lights if any. How are you supposed to see them when they are in stealth mode lights if any at ground level and clothing to blend in with the darkness?

Sympathise about spectres on scooters. Especially in Bristol.
The scooters have radically reduced the delivery time for recreational materials in the City.

The lighting is a highly technical thing about veiling luminance, the properties of LED as an illumination source and loosening regulations. And price driven purchasing by national and local government.
Have a special anorak for this subject.

Does anyone else (in UK) watch "Death in Paradise"? For the benefit of our foreign correspondents it is a murder mystery filmed on one of the Caribbean Islands.

Tonight is the second part continuing from last week. I think the culprit is the young Police Officer who recently failed his Sergeants' Exam.

The reason is that he has the local knowledge of who is on the island, and the computer access to find their personal details. He is determined to show that his local knowledge is better than his superiors and wanted to commit a crime that they could not solve.

 I could be wrong of course.
