I could get my first fix of live motorsport for 2023 this weekend as the Classic Sports Car Club are putting on a meeting on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit on Sunday. Having looked at the BBC's weather forecast, I think I'll forego the hypothermia and watch it on the Youtube live stream.

At least it's not likely to be snowed off - like the opening F3 meeting at Silverstone in 1986

Long week work-wise, so up early on Saturday to peruse the UK newspapers before my cycle ride. I feel strangely disconnected on this little island from the larger one 6000 miles away! The local news headlines make for interesting comparisons: 'Singapore's fertility rate hits record low' vs. 'Northern Ireland protocol deal in sight' or 'Planned cut to energy bill support'

Morning .
Quite light herewith mixed cloud , some grey bits , some cream bits with blue sky .
I had a Carp night . I don't know if I slept if at all. I couldn't get my head comfy. If I lay in one position my head hurt, a sore patch. If I lay on my sides I was comfy for a few seconds but then my head would burn and it felt like it was resting on sacking. If that wasn't enough I had a tickly cough in my throat which wouldn't go away .
I may have bird flu! I keep walking around in circles with my arms behind my back looking at things and going Coo!

One for @Reynard, Brands Hatch in the spring.

Meanwhile, it’s springtime at Brands Hatch!

As most residents of this fair isle can attest, Spring is only an indicator of the time of year and bears no relationship to the weather that one might expect. This is the British Superbikes meeting from 6th April 2008.

At 11.15am on that day, Jonathan Palmer (the ex F1 driver), Chief Executive of MotorSport Vision, owners of Brands Hatch, announced that following a review of circuit conditions and weather forecasts, the meeting would be cancelled!

Once has to wonder just how long it took him to review the conditions!
