And now waiting at the pharmacy. Another triumph for the statistics. Will, has tripped over into hour 6.

Early afternoon I was at the pharmacy for a prescription medication which arrived this morning. Frantic running around and “ have you seen it “ type of conversations behind the screen.
I could hear somebody phoning the surgery in panic mode asking for a copy of prescription immediately.
Transpires the pharmacist has a habit of shredding stuff without checking and my original copy had gone that way. They could not process it without a bar code apparently.

Had a lovely luncheon of a ham & cheese sandwich, an apple, a pear and two :cuppa:

Then I figured I might as well go and do some firewood. I still had a load of lengths of wood I brought in the other week and stacked in the garage, so I sawed those up into logs, along with some other lengths that were leant up against the fence / log store.

After, I went for a putter along the edge of the wood where I know I had some half cleared up storm damage (a leylandii split and smashed into a cherry tree as it came down) to see what still needed doing. Will need to spend some time in there with the loppers first, but there is a LOT of seasoned wood that's good to go. With luck, there's more than enough there to see me through till the warmer weather.

Am now sat by the fire with a :cuppa: and watching the early evening news.

The damson trees have been properly pruned and three other large shrubs/small trees. The tree fellars shredded the cuttings/brash and swept up.

I am particularly fussy about how they are pruned. The damson trees are silhouetted against the sunset, and the giant Berberis tree provides oodles of dense shade in a spot where there is a gently breeze on most (even the hottest days). The smoke bush tree has beautiful foliage in spring and autumn.

The man doing the work understood that, and seemed not to mind all the discussions.

Out for an hour in rain today, cold wind. Winter still here.

Oh, and while I was furkling, I found a dead bird of prey. It's quite small, so likely a kestrel, a hobby or something of that ilk. Hard to tell whether it's been shot, poisoned or had succumbed to bird flu. Moved it away from what will be my work area with a couple of long sticks and shoved it in the hedge.

A Hobby looks very much like a Peregrine but smaller and with reddish brown legs . The Kestrel is from the same family as Hobby being a Falcon but is more brown in colour . Both have the black smudge running down from their eyes as if their mascara has run .

I had scrambled eggs and bacon on toast for supper. Now, that's what I call a late breakfast!

(I found an old egg carton with a single forgotten egg at the back of my fridge. Now, I'm reasonably flexible with best before dates, but 22 December seemed just a little too far to stretch things.)

Nah! Eggs last for ages.
Google the test. I think if it floats it is off. Could be the other way around.

This one had yellow legs, but there was no flesh / feathers on the head, so hard to say. The beak was biscuit-coloured and quite small. Back was a dull brown, the underside off-white barred with brown.

I do like a full English for supper :hungry:

I collected my new glasses today. I wear contacts most of the time and the prescription in my spare glasses was woefully out of date.
