missing my Dad. when it was time for big decisions, I always checked in w/ him. as in, what would Dad do?

SWMBO and myself have had that conversation about my Mum, now her Oesopagheal cancer has really taken hold. Apart from slowly starving to death it's meant she's now confused and forgetful.

She's always been the 'sensible head' in the family. SWMBO thinks I've now got to be the sensible voice. As if that'll work!

I'm sat 55 minutes into a 2-hour online feedback session. The online meeting room has been very quiet. Eerily so. It's me, myself and I.

In contrast the 2-hour face-to-face session yesterday was busy, and lasted 2 1/2 hours in the end. I've another face-to-face session on Monday.

As I've got to 'sit' here for the next hour and 5 minutes, what should I do instead to keep myself occupied? Suggestions please. Decent ones as I'm on camera ...

Mrs Rocky, The Prof, has taken up knitting during sessions like these. She’s already finished a cardigan and is on to a nice multicolour jersey.

Ah! Noticed the time difference. Worried about the idea of pizza for breakfast

When else are you going to finish off your leftover pizza?

Bright, mild and breezy here chez Casa Reynard after the overnight rain.

Slept well, though it took me a while to drop off. Have had a bit of a kitchen morning earlier. The crock pot is locked and loaded with a carton of passata, onion, garlic, and a load of other stuff in preparation for tonight's supper. I've also done some paperwork (urgh!).

Writing awaits this afternoon. Now that I have seemingly fixed what was troubling me, I can see the way forward. It's rather good to get acquainted with my characters again. I haven't been "not working" on it during the break; I've spent some time developing later sections of the plot, making notes about settings and the like, plus writing potted biographies of a few characters that, while they currently only have bit parts, will be much more important later on in the story.

Anyways, just about time for luncheon.

Knitting ... hmmm ... I got thrown out of needlework class in Year 7. Along with Woodwork, Metalwork and DT. Then thrown out of Home Economics in Year 8. Drama were too late throwing me out, so I ended up with an O-level in Drama.

I chose the 'list some items on eBay' as I've a huge pile to go on there. Boring, but useful time-wise as no-one turned up.

Seen a couple of those F1 films of late, the Jackie Stewart one and Villeneuve-Pironi .... they don't hold back on showing some of those awful crashes. Thank god the safety has improved now.

The 70s and 80s were bloody godawful when it came to safety. There's an Italian book on Gilles Villeneuve published about 1986-ish which has a double page spread with what is pretty well much a frame-by-frame depiction of the accident from the moment the Ferrari hit the back of Jochen Mass' March...

I'd always wanted to be an engineer, but after Paul's crash (I was 16 at the time), I got interested in composites and motor racing safety / crash testing. That culminated in a PhD where I did stuff on side impacts for Arrows and McLaren. If motor racing is a little safer these days, I like to think it's because I did my part.
