It's amazing how much was permitted back in the day and how quickly it changed.

Last time I was visiting the family I told Beautiful Daughter about being a child in a pit village in the North East, and how the coal deliveries were brought by the sack load; she had eyes like saucers. I realised how strange end exotic even my childhood in the 80's would seem to someone growing up today.

I've just been reading my fathers short autobiography he wrote for my daughter, just 5 pages long but lots I didn't know. Time to get writing I think.

Just took delivery of this (at work unfortunately):

Take it out for a test ride.

I was minus 4 years old then.

Looks like it might be a tad earlier in the year as I'm pretty sure those are elderflowers in the background. Late May / early June, I'd guess...

It could be June . It is a Kodachrome slide film. So it would depend on how many pictures were taken until the end of the roll, and then posting.
I was a teenager and an apprentice in a garage. I think it might have been the second thing I bought , the first being a BSA Airsporter.

Another day without promised phone call from insurance company.Bloody good at taking monthly payments on insurance cover.Sadly lacking in keeping customer up to date with progress. It seems our cooker being five years one month old might not have spare parts in stock.First sign of trouble for them was our cookers number plate thing not enough numbers on it.That rang a warning bell with me.Sadly for the insurance company if they cannot source two parts it's a new oven oh goody.i think they have a problem.well they will have wednesday afternoon after coffee club.Mrs P is feeling rather annoyed and you do not annoy Mrs P.

I'll join you in having a Customer Service grump... Whole afternoon was gobbled up waiting for RBS to get back to me. At least I eventually got through to someone articulate this time, but yes, they only do ID confirmation if you're registered for online banking.

It would be SO much easier if they mentioned that particular fact on their swanky new website.

So I shall have to do that later, and try again... Or I could just simply wait it out, as they're changing from VISA to Mastercard, and I shall be getting a new card soon anyway...

The upside is though, while sat at the laptop, I did some furkling and managed to identify dad's Longines. Looks like a late 50s / early 60s stainless steel-cased calibre 30L - though can't confirm that 100% without opening it up.

I always remember him having it, but he never wore it because it had stopped working - he had a cheapo quartz chronograph instead. He must have done BITD though, because the caseback is quite scuffed and the strap is definitely a replacement. He got it serviced a couple of years or so before he died, and I certainly won't forget the temper tantrum at the cost.

Having said that, I'm not happy with the work that was done. It's got a badly-fitting replacement crystal (it fell out and dropped onto the floor the last time I wore it), a very chunky replacement brass crown, and a stem that's much too long and protrudes from the case. It works and keeps good time, but I get the feeling dad went for the cheapest option when it came to parts.

I first need to get grandad Arthur's Tissot tank mended (the mainspring has snapped / come adrift) and then I'll see what my watchmaker can make of this one. Trimming the stem and fitting a much flatter / thinner crown should make it much easier to wear, although at 34mm, it's bigger than I'd want to go.

Anyways, time for a :cuppa: and a yum yum.

Sitting it out in the kitchen , Mrs 73 has an online union branch meeting.
Just been on quick walk at one point some old bloke came from behind speeding along on a mobility scooter. Ask to come past I let him and he shot off without a word. Told him a thank you would be nice yet people always say YP have no manners.
He can't have been that bad I was not too long behind and he'd already left it was inside our local tesco.

I have just found a Wacom Bamboo pen &touch in our loft . It says Windows 7 on it . Is it still possible to use it or is it just good as a paper weight?

Is that the one with the drawing tablet?

If so, I have an earlier one of those - circa 2003/04. It was an (expensive) birthday present from a very gadgety university friend of mine, but I think I only ever used it twice. I prefer to use an actual pencil or pen.
