Salty seadog

Space Cadet...(3rd Class...)
We're in a remote cottage in a Herefordshire wood with a Clearview log-burning stove. The instructions assured me that the temperature dial would be registering about 400F within about 20 minutes of lighting. It decided to die instead, despite all my frantic knob, flap and slide twiddling. Relit, it has managed to stagger up to 300F after an hour and a half of nerve-wracking attention.

I don't seem to be cut out to be a fearless eco-warrier, despite being in Herefordshire wood.

Keep us posted, don't leave out even the smallest detail. Being a cottage I doubt it has a cupboard under the stairs. How does that make you feel?
