We had a lot of feathers by the back fence the other day, when I went into the entry a few days later there was a well eaten ex pigeon on the floor the other side of the fence, I suspect one of the local cats got lucky and caught the bird by suprise.

A falcon of some kind probably a peregrine got a pigeon about 50 yards away from me. There was a loud thump and a cloud of feathers. I sometimes find piles feathers in my garden and put it down to hawk attacks. Never found any carcass tho’.

Turned out to be a lovely sunny afternoon and evening but still cold.
In my top garden/weed patch/wildlife area trying to keep control of the weeds I went for a sit down and a couple of goldfinches came to visit and forage among the dead heads. There is a colony a few hundred yards away and they forage as far as my garden quite often in summer. Not seen any for a while tho'.
The MV Alfred [ yes I did check ] passed down the Sound en route to Islay for berthing trials.
She will not be coming here as the link spans do not fit and probably will be mainly used for Islay with a lot of commercial traffic.

Lovely walk up to the White Horse this morning. Dropped off the girl at a local scarecrow festival, picked her up later on, did a food shop, and separated Kermit the baby yucca from the not-as-dead-as-we-thought mother plant into a pot of his own. Fingers crossed that he’ll survive… The day has flown by.

💚 Seems it's a jealous emoji. Goldfinches, local broody cats, especially one, have seen them off.

Is The Whitehouse still operating?

The Whitehouse of Aros is still there. Miss Maitland is long gone and it has changed hands several times. One of the previous owners lives just along the road from me.
Not sure what you mean by “ operating “ as it is so far as I know a private residence.
