Itching to get back on my bike's
Location
Northamptonshire
Time for first ride of May

Well back now after a 22 mile test / shakedown / listening to a noise ride on my recently acquired Dawes galaxy.

Roads had some trace of dampness due to the rain last night.

Grey sky but dry out
First cuppa going down well

I consistently get more mpg than the manufacturer's claim of 61.4 for a Honda Jazz hybrid. Today's 60 mile drive back from Maldon gave me 80mpg. But then I prefer to keep everything relaxed and don't get frustrated travelling at truck speeds.

I drive workdays on the A1M and am quite happy to sit in lane 1, occasionally lane 2. Its actually quite relaxing and no drama at all. Its economical as well.
Let the world and his brother disappear up their own arrises in lane 3 and 4, all jockeying for position, desperate to save a couple minutes on their journeys, arriving with high blood pressure and stressed ...and lighter in the pocket too, their fuel economy must be horrific

Good morning all. We have sunshine for the third day in a row

I think that this morning will consist of breakfast followed by a bit of weeding of the front border. The grass also needs cutting, but I may leave that until the afternoon (after I've been food shopping for the week ahead) to give it a chance to dry out a bit after the overnight rain. The recycling bin has also been emptied and needs to be retrieved.

just cleaning the windows. Amazingly enough, I'd looked at a window cleaning pole kit but it seemed no one had one in stock so I'm doing it the normal, manual way.
I say amazing because our daughter rang mid session and asked...have you got a window cleaning pole ?
What a co incidence. We're now going halves on a good one between us

I like the way the idiots suddenly have to behave on hilly motorways where lanes 1 and 2 are full of HGVs and 3 (or maybe 4) is basically a one or two lane carriageway for non HGV traffic.

Got the disc and pads hopefully bedded in on the ebikes front wheel this morning; down the same hill 5 times was a bit tedious and I'm sure the motor got fed up of going back up it. 2.37 miles with 279ft of elevation gain.

As I wandered up the road to meet Mrs Tenkay from her keep fit class yesterday I noticed that one of the Funeral Directors had a price list in the window. Quite discreet, and well laid out with an explanation about various mandatory charges. It's a family run concern, they have an " Open House " during the local Christmas Parade, with mulled wine mince pies etc. Quite a refreshing attitude to what can be quite a sensitive subject.
