A cool day here chez Casa Reynard, a mix of sunshine and spits and spots of rain.

Did not sleep terribly well, but spent a lovely morning walking around the community orchard and local nature reserve with a friend and her two dogs. Some of the apple varieties look to be doing well this year, but others have hardly any blossom at all. Ah well, hey ho.

I will need to run some errands for the parental unit this afternoon.

The postie brought me a form for the exchange of old stamps and a little parcel from Tesco that contains a sample of cat food.

It is time for luncheon and I has a hungry.

Yesterday, my neighbours got rid of the bath in their garden. ^_^

They had been using it as a pond, but have decided it is not successful. I could not see it from my garden, except when I was working at the compost bin. I do not think it enhanced the garden.

Monty Don on Gardeners' World often speaks about the importance of compost bins and ponds. I do not want the extra work of looking after a pond, and they do not want a compost bin, like my very large one.
Between us, we meet Monty's suggestion. They have one of those sub pod thingies for waste food.

Lovely luncheon of two slices of wholemeal toast, one with filet americain, and one with cheddar and beetroot chutney, plus an apple, a banana and two :cuppa:

It is now raining, so I shall take the car to do the errands. While I'm at it, I will stop at a local garden centre to see what they do in terms of herbs. I am in need of basil, sage and parsley. I lost the majority of my parsley in the two cold snaps that we had.

My triffids tomato plants look a lot happier for having been potted on and put outside on the drive. I had to stake up the shirley and the moneymaker.

I am a bad person. The Book of Face and Stalking threw a page at me where someone was blethering on about taking money out, sitting down to sort their post out, mistakenly putting the post and the money into the recycling, but forgetting to put the recycling bin out.
This was obviously The Hand Of God at work to save their dollars.
Because of course it was.
Anyway, I posted a comment that just read 'Thank you God'.
And a link to the Tim Minchin song of the same name.

Feeling the effects of an afternoon using the heavy duty telescopic loppers. I'm off to have a long soak in a hot bath to ease my aches and pains before bed.

Nunnight one and all xxx :hello:

One of my telescopic loppers no longer telescopes, since I've managed to bend it. Still lops OK tho'.

in my late teens, early 20s, my long term girlfriend's family's summer home, had an outdoor solar shower, w/ no walls. often saw the men showering (nude) but never the women. tho I was encouraged to do the same (nude) & "go ahead, give them a show". in hind sight, I should have because I was in my prime, but I was always too shy & wore my bathing suit

There is a Bathtub in a Field Appreciation Society or some such title who post photos on FB.
The sub pod thingy will be a Green Cone. The local council gave them free to anyone who asked some years ago. Lots of people did ask. Most have now given up but they can still be seen in many gardens including mine.

As the morning progressed the weather improved apart from one shower of rain.
Never managed to get out on the trike but checked my usual route out by car as there are roadworks ongoing. Bits have been resurfaced but there are still some nasty potholes not attended to.

Last week the lifeboat and coastguard had to turn out to rescue a touroid frightened to return along a path to the lighthouse.
No idea why they did not just go up and along the edge of the golf course.
By chance I came on a photo which does demonstrate the problem for the nervous on this path. It shows my wife in winter gear walking back towards the town. There is nothing on her left to hinder a fall and at the corner in front of her there is not even vegetation to give a visual barrier.
