I took my Brompton on the bus this morning to Maidens and rode around the Heads of Ayr, Electric Brae and into Alloway and Ayr before following NCN to Ardrossan for the ferry to Brodick.
I had toyed with the idea of visiting Culzean Castle until I saw the ticket price!
I had eaten a snack while waiting at the top of Electric Brae and was amazed at the amount of people who pull in code to the information stone thing and lean out of the window to photograph it. I am convinced people get lazier all the time.
NCN 7 was a bad choice of route today I think as it took me a ridiculous amount of time to negotiate all the many pedestrians and stray dogs and kids along the various beaches at Saltcoats, etc so I ended up running late even though I thought I had all the time in the world. I had to treat the last ten miles like a time trial and just made the boat with minutes to spare. In this heat, I was knacked and starving as I boarded but this perked me up.

Now you know why I use an ebike for shopping and commuting! Thanks for the info. I have mapped out a decent walk from Harrogate down to Knaresborough, around the Nidd valley, across to Ripley and back via Killinghall for the full day and another meandering one for the part day to take me to Knaresborough rail station so the bus ticket may be the get out option if my legs give up (or if I over 'refresh' myself at a lunch stop). The full day route has more upwardlyness than I get on a 50k bike ride round here![]()
Lovely blue skies here after an excellent night's sleep. Heading West later this week to help my mum, so a bit of domestic prep to do today, and a packing list to write. I do like a good list.
