Went to our Hyundai dealer to get a new service record book as the existing one is full.
According to the book, with the ultimate stamp, we should have 'logged' about 180k. miles. We've actually done around 84k., averaging just under 5k. a year in the last eight years; we don't use the car a lot - !
The nice manny fetched a new book which doesn't apply to our model anyway; a '58 plate 1.30 and said '£16 please'
He was very understanding when I replied very politely 'Jog on - !' and left.

Congratulations all round! In my view your news is too exciting and not at all mundane, you have posted in the wrong place.

With all the bad news around the world, I thought the regulars on this thread would like some good news.

Ironically, the thread started  when a member of the Royal Family was expecting a baby. It was treated by the media as if no one had ever had a baby before. Mundane news started as a way of saying "What is your news that is less important than a new baby?" ^_^

Cut a bunch of hazel canes, trimmed them, and whacked in two for the plants that needed the extra support. Had to soak the soil, because otherwise I couldn't get them in. Never mind that I had to use a stepladder and a hefty mallet.

Did some other puttering about in the garden.

Now sat with a :cuppa: and a shortbread finger.

What’s the medical term for shortbread finger.Would dipping it hot tea may help 👆👇👌

North loop of Arran completed. Three gears weren't quite enough at times but there is no rush. Visited the Machrie Moor stones. I suffered an unscheduled deflation just before Lochranza. I had spare tubes but I had time and the weather was nice so I patched the original. What's worrying is that I genuinely can't work what punctured it in the first place but it remained hard. I am just concerned some small piece of glass or something remains undetected in the tyre, waiting to strike again.

Inspirational story of the day. I rode a few miles with a woman from Glasgow today who had started cycling during lockdown and in the meantime has lost seven stone, stopped smoking and taken up cycle touring. An example of what cycling can do for you  My own story was similar when I started.
