I had one of those "Cycle log" accounts this summer where you're supposed to register and log how much you ride in a month.

I've now deleted it.

I was getting stressed out about remembering to log rides and feeling under pressure to ride more, which is silly; I ride a bike every day. It's not like I need encouraging to give up on a car I don't own.

Another ebiked trip to raid Boots of plasters (20% off Elastoplast so worth stocking up anyway). Extra tough one on the hand and a couple (one cut) of fast healing ones on the dog lead scar on the arm.
Was a rare non stop ride into town yet the stop start return Strava decided was an ebike ride.
Nearly witnessed an accident on the return. Sat at a crossroads, the way ahead blocked by a parked lorry a car lengths from the junction and a lorry waiting at the junction and a car turns into that road and did pretty much an emergency stop.

Had a lovely luncheon of two slices of toast, one with smoked mackerel, the other with Englishman's Foot cheese, along with a banana, an orange, some strawberries and two :cuppa:

I've worked out how long the meat needs to be in the oven for (too big to get into my biggest frying pan!) and I've also hung up the laundry to dry and re-filled the fruit bowls. I shall go erranding shortly.

Found a wasps nest under a pile of turves. Managed to destroy it using a long hoe, insecticide & a flame gun. If it had been in an out of the way place I'd have no minded but just in front of the fruit & where the dog patrols.

They're actually very interesting structurally - and provided the inspiration behind some forms of composite materials.

Fixed the drippy kitchen 'mixer' tap AGAIN. One of those with the ceramic discs in. The cold supply started dripping about 6 months ago, bought new 'cartridges' but they were too long. Butchered it and used one of the ceramic discs and a new 'rubber washer' to fix. Same has just started with the hot tap. Fortunately, everyone was out, so I had time to turn the water off and drain the hot water down without getting moaned at.

There are many different 'sizes' of these cartridges, with very minor differences. Other option, at the time, would have been to turn the water off, then disappear for an hour to a DIY store, then come home to lots of complaints the water is off. Why are there never any 'stop' taps on sinks ? Only ever on toilets !

Anyway, job jobbed.

Oh for a tap where you could just unscrew it, take out the old washer & put it back together.

Very mixed weather. Went out by car and there was a torrential shower which lasted about 2 minutes as tho’ a hose had been turned on. This followed by bright sunshine.
Not the sort of day to take the trike out. I don’t mind getting wet myself but I prefer the trike to stay dry as it lives in my car when not in use.
Nothing of note done apart from making a batch of pancakes.
Trouble is somebody seems to have eaten half of them.

Erranding done, including dropping off mum's prescription. Took Max the MTB along the back road and farm tracks to Littleport as there's lots of shelter from quite a stiff breeze thanks to the hedgerows. I really enjoyed that.

Have also discovered two more walnut trees in the hedgerow, so more foraging opportunities later in the year. :becool:

On a less happy note, the three walnut trees that were in a neighbour's garden (the old boy I fell out with after he threatened to shoot me over an alleged tool theft) have been cut down, along with several other mature trees. I guess his niece & nephew will have had something to do with that.

Anyways, I'd better put the oven on the preheat before I sit down with a :cuppa:
