According to bookface there is a peregrine vulcan nesting on the roof of a nearby Church.

Had a lovely luncheon of two slices of wholemeal toast, one with the last of the gammon, the other with chicken liver pate, plus an apple, an orange (a South African "Valencia" one - nowhere near as nice as the Spanish "Lane Late" or "Navel Late") and two :cuppa:

Did some domestic stuff, dropped off some salamis, chorizos and bay leaves at a friend's place, and now I'm trying to whip a piece of writing into shape. It is not going well.

And my internet connection keeps dropping out due to the wind wanging a too-long cable around.

Light rain has appeared as forecast but I did get out earlier for some exercise up a dead end farm road and a bit further than yesterday.
It used to be to one farm and a large house but now there are developments with new houses and a stables where a constant stream of wee girls on large horses come past.
Consequently what used to be a quiet walk now has too many cars for pedestrian comfort.

Ferreting around on FB I notice somebody is doing holiday things for smallish children regarding things to do outdoors. There are pictures of them doing things like lighting fires and grilling sausages.
Sad thing is they are all wearing helmets which is something we would have been ridiculed for when I was doing such things out in the countryside at their age, and no adult supervision either.

It was a Scottish thing I think but all serious weekend cyclists had a billycan hanging from their saddlebag for a brew up somewhere. At weekends and often at holiday periods there was a constant fire going at the bottom of the path to the Fairy Pool on Loch Lomondside. Any passing cyclist was welcome to stop and there was often a large crowd there. I still have my rather black billy.
No idea if it is still going but I have never been able to look recently as my attention is on the road doing 60mph just to keep up with the traffic.

School that use Frost school teaching methods don't even do things like that. One school is even set up to teach outdoors every day the only class room. They have for when for it's really bad weather is just a large marquee type fly sheet.

I found my big box of allen keys but there wasn't a small 1/16th one in there... so I ordered one off Ebay today and within 90 minutes i found the 1/16th allen key I've been looking for all week. Sod's Law is the only thing i can rely on.

reminds me I have to replace the drill bit I lost working on Mom's fence last weekend .... grrr

re: allen keys, I gave up trying to keep sorted properly. I do have some sets, neatly in their packaging, but most of them are in a big plastic jar. yes, I have to dig thru them, when I need one, & yes, there are duplicates, but I'm very happy I don't have to hunt for them

Well after an interesting chat about being responsible at work I've decided I'd rather be a bike bum however I think I might have to go to work.🙄

You need well organised tool storage like mine. I store every under miscellaneous.

for the most part, my tool storage is very organised...

even the jars on my 'spice' rack have screws and nails and stuff all neatly sorted.
but this allen key, the only one that fits my guitar saddle is probably the only imperial key i have. Last used 20 years ago when i bought the guitar and set it up. At least I have two now... or in a few days.

I know the feeling. There's a now surplus bike lock coming my way in the post as I write this...

That said in our family, a spare bike lock won't stay spare for long...
