Madam Lexi is cooking herself in front of the fire. We've not reached the singed fur stage *yet* but I'm keeping an eye (or a nose) on her just in case.
The washing machine jammed up on Monday and unfortunately the grip on the drain plug snapped, leaving us with a problem.
Our local store's maintenance engineer could only come out next Monday so I ordered two new drain plugs and had a go myself.
Attempt 1 - use two pliers and try to turn the plug. Result = failure.
Attempt 2 - drill several holes, insert screws and try to turn the drain plug using the screws as grip points. Result = failure.
Attempt 3 - drill lots of holes, knock the centre out, remove the blockage and try to turn it with grips now there's more purchase. Result = success.
Replacement plug installed with waterproof grease and we'll cancel the maintenance engineer in the morning.
On another note son no. 1 will be renting his own place for the first time in a nice area to the south of Lincoln rather than renting a room in someone else's house. Furniture to sort, services to organise and one of his cats is going to be there as well (oddly enough the grumpy, unfriendly non-house-trained Manx is staying with us). As he's on a budget and doesn't drive it'll be charity furniture stores plus eBay/Gumtree/Facebook Marketplace for much of his stuff methinks.
I am going to see a one man show by an old friend of mine, Jon Agnew, this evening.
hope you're not the only one there
Considering this is a small flat and I live here alone, how is it possible for a book to apparently completely vanish into thin air?.![]()
