Ah, the SU carbs, I always reckoned that I used more oil in the dash pots than petrol in the car. I don't remember ever seeing a blue one. I remember driving along a road around Tring Reservoirs, all right angled turns, followed by a friend who thought his car was fast. He said I'd been driving dangerously!

At least when SAAB used the same engine* it had either 1 or 2 Stromberg carbs fitted. It was also mounted 'backwards' in the car with a clutch on the front and a triplex chain dropping power to the underslung gearbox which unlike the Mini used a separate casing for the gears and diff so they didn't share oil.

*Designed by Ricardo for both SAAB and Triumph at first 1709cc later enlarged to 1850cc

Lovely luncheon of toasted ciabatta* topped with corned beef and homemade apricot & peach chutney, plus an apple, a banana and the obligatory two :cuppa:

And I have also bagged that 1981 stock car programme. Really pleased, as it's a bit of a rare beast. Rare does not mean expensive - this one was the equivalent of two tubes of Pringles.

* it was going a bit stale, so toasting it gave it a bit of va-va-voom

Prodigious precipitation perseveres. I laid this yesterday, and if I had got the falls wrong the house would be flooding:

Sunny and warm all day but tomorrow's forecast tells us that is the end of it for some time.
Took a run out to Glengorm with the trike but took the car beyond the really steep hills and triked the rest.
I had forgotten that it was downhill all the way and the wind was mostly behind me so the return journey was a bit tough being uphill against a brisk wind.
Knackered.
Just been buzzed by three F35 jets although I only saw two of them. Very low and everything vibrated with the noise. Dog owners were not amused.
This usually happens when the world is getting a bit nervous and somebody is going to be invaded.
Sat outside the front of my house for a change and saw a very small red butterfly which I could not get a close look at but I think a Copper of some kind. Never seen one before.
Also got my first clegg of the season which was quickly an ex clegg. They are very stealthy and can land with no sensation until they start to feed unless you watch for them.
No idea what they are called in England or Wales but I thing they have a different name there.
