Well.. The rain wasn't too crunchy! 🚲 ❄️ ☂️

It's been a bright, mostly sunny and occasionally showery day here chez Casa Reynard.

Did not sleep terribly well, no particular reason, just restless. Have had a busy kind of day. The morning was spent sorting out and putting away yesterday evening's shopping, dealing with assorted packagine and checking the contents of my fruit & veg trays. I dealt with the fridgeables last night, but left everything else in the car as it was raining. Also did a load of laundry.

Realised I forgot to buy a jar of honey, a box of long matches, some washing up liquid and some doggie birthday pressies aka a couple of jumbones. No matter, I haven't run out of the first three, and I'll be doing a tip run at some point in the next few days, so I can always stop by Aldi and B&M on the way home.

Lovely luncheon of rye toast, taramasalata, wensleydale, fruit and a :cuppa:

This afternoon, I chopped up a load of firewood, finally got round to doing disinfecting and washing up another batch of cookware after the mousey intrusion, and a friend popped by for her share of last night's YS buys - she was well chuffed with the tea. Also found the time to keep an eye on the action from the Cheltenham festival.

Now sat by the fire with a :cuppa: and a biskit.

Got some sleep last night, but I had a few glasses of wine - still knackered after 3 days of on the settee. I keep looking at 'used' bikes on ebay - top end stuff that no-one wants because they are rim braked. Some right bargains. I'm not pressing the buy button as MrsF will break the other side of my pelvis.

It's a bit like yellow stickering. Knowing when to stop in terms of quantity. There's a fine line between taking advantage of a good buy and getting shot when you come home...

It never ceases to amaze me how thick most politicians are. They grab hold of the latest buzz phrase & think it is their answer to all the world's problems.

I'll tell you one thing. If the primates that we came from had known that someday politicians would come out of the gene pool, they'd have stayed up in the trees and written evolution off as a bad idea! Hell, I always thought the opposable thumb was... overrated!

And yes, that *IS* another of my Babylon 5 Quotes For All Occasions

Oh yes, and green wheelie bin was emptied this morning. Didn't bother with the black bag again this week.

Just had to pay £59 for a sticker to pop on my 'green bin' so the council will re-cycle my garden waste. They will still collect food waste, but not garden stuff. As a keen gardener, we compost most but can't with our laurel bushes. Can't put the laurel through the muncher either.

Yikes!

Green bin here largely reserved for green woody clippings and thorny stuff. Although (cold) ashes and kitchen peelings go in there too. We keep being threatened with a separate caddy for food waste, but out here that would be disastrous as they'd be raided / a magnet for rats.

First green bin is free, but if you want a second one, then you have to pony up, not just a collection fee, but also for the actual bin.

Time to feed the cat, and then it will be time to feed me.

Evening.
I went for a ride with my mates this morning. The route got altered. I was just going to do a 11 mile ride but it changed to 13.5 instead. I managed it and in the afternoon I walked round to another friend's house to pick up the Raleigh Spirit. It rides well. I was enjoying riding it just pootling along. It has straight bars. All of mine have drops. It was quite nice, a bit like riding a motorbike.
I looked on the BB and found the frame number YF99002062. I think it's from the 90's.
