@fossyant - I'd agree about the time it takes to check, investigate, hold meetings, etc.

It'd be so much easier if they didn't, but a few choose to try. And looking into those submissions is part of my job.

Same situation with my academic colleagues in my Faculty - it's a massive amount of work for each case, time etc, to ensure a fair 'hearing'. I'm a Business Partner based in the Faculty, and it just amazes me the lengths some go to.

Fabby supper of mushroom, broccoli & blue cheese pasta.

Used some Cornish Blue bought on YS in Waitrose, which is very nice, and not as intense / salty as Stilton. The sauce also used up the last dollops of soured cream and double cream respectively, a punnet of chestnut mushrooms that were looking a bit tired, one head of the 15p broccoli I bought the other day and some of the dripping / cooking juices that came off the Turkey. Still got enough for another meal if I add some extra bits on the side.

Just listened to the first half of Arsenal v Palace.

Major brainfart with the shopping this afternoon.
As I wasn't going to be carrying too much weight in the backpack, I decided to use the Lidl this side of Ipswich to make it a nice 20 mile round trip. All went well, locked up at the bike stands walked to the entrance and thought that the doors looked different and wondered why a shop would have a keypad entry system. Only then did I realise I'd automatically gone to the old store which they vacated over a year ago and is now a gym . Goodness knows why as I've been to the new building across the road numerous times - perhaps distracted by using the shared path to avoid some roadworks taking me the 'old' way or just riding on autopilot.

I did a bit of experimenting on my Saxaphone. 8 tried using the old reeds and the mouthpiece that came with it. Just the sound of rushing air. An online group for beginners suggested that I needed a different mouthpiece with a narrower opening. I thought I would try the mouthpiece off my clarinet. I popped a reed on and held it in place on the sax and managed to get a sound. I seem to be learning the mechanics of these instruments more than learning how to play music.

Back in the late 60s I was chasing a science degree.

Most of the study was team work in practical lab and field work.
We found that the psychology department had a programmable device. This facilitated processing a lot of data quickly.
We blagged our way into using it to process some results from endless piles of data from experiments.

Discretely, we were each spoken to by our tutors to the effect we'd been sussed. And we'd better go back to log tables and slide rules.

I got 2.2 and nobody in the group got better.

Actually, to be fair, the bread had all but disintegrated, so it was little more than a bag full of green mold anyway.

Oh and I never knew bread could smell when it had gone like that!

In complete contrast to last night, today was a lovely day. Shame I had to work!

We had our quarterly meeting with the big chiefs of the department in the States. Usually boring but a major row broke out when they asked if anyone had questions and someone started saying the pay increases were inadequate and others joined in. I don't think it was the right time or place but it was entertaining!

I had a nice twenty mile ride on the single speed. It really cools down after the sun starts to go down.

My Pioneer was my winter fixed wheeler until a Citreon crashed into it, and I put a freewheel on it as I didn't feel comfortable with fixed when my ankle was recovering. Tonight, I found myself toying with putting a track sprocket back on it. I feel I would like to get back into fixed wheel riding again.
