It's been a grey and cool day here chez Casa Reynard, but it's turned into a clear evening.

Slept OK-ish. Morning was spent doing a few chores, as well as prepping vegetables so that the gammon could simmer away in some stock while I ate luncheon. I actually sawed the gammon in half, as it was well over 2kg - half went into the stock pot, the other half went into the freezer..

Had a lovely luncheon of rye bread, salami, extra-mature cheddar, fruit and a :cuppa:

After, glazed the gammon with a mixture of gochujang, honey, soy and sesame oil, and finished it off in the oven before letting it cool. The skin went back into the stock pot, and that's having another simmer to get the maximum flavour out of it.

Tea time saw me trot off back into town - earlier than planned, as I wanted to get to Brands (the little independent garden centre) before it shut, so that I could acquire two beefsteak tomato plants. That was duly done. Waitrose yielded a very impressive pot with oregano plants for a fiver - it's a perennial, so should get a few years out of it. In theory, at least. A lot of stuff on sticker in Waitrose, but nothing that I particularly wanted. Especially since I have a lot of poultry and sausages in the freezer.

Then off to Tesco for groceries proper. Got everything on my list except for the leaf tea. That's the second time in a row there's been none, but thankfully I've another packet still in the cupboard as well as enough tea bags to serve an army. Green bins and fruit & veg were a bust, but picked up bread and rolls in the bakery and the chilled reductions yielded a tray of stewing beef, a packet of shortcrust pastry and six assorted pieces of cheese.

Well, a girl can't have too much cheese, although I will divert half of my haul to a friend. Picked up an Epoisses, two baking Camemberts and three pieces of Castello Blue.

A lovely supper of gammon sandwiches and a :cuppa:

Now sat back watching Espanyol v Barca.

A long day as I made up the hours for yesterday when I had the appointment and have worked up enough to still have a short day tomorrow. :becool:

My ankle is still sore and still hirpling around. I did venture out on the bike for about 25 miles and cycling doesn't really seem to be a problem but walking is

I've also got a court date

I'd similar after I snapped my left ankle when I landed wrong from a height of less than three feet. I was told it was down to the load being placed on the one ankle as I walked. Cycling didn't put the same load through the ankle.
