Morning.
We had some grey cloud here earlier but it seems to have brightened up now.
During this hot weather when I have been out on my bike I have been wearing my jeans. I feel that if I come off I have a bit of protection from dirt of gravel getting into cuts. Wearing jeans also has another advantage!
Imagine a rider all dressed out in his favourite team's cycling gear but wearing Christmas socks as his matching ones had holes in! :ohmy:Socks don't show when wearing jeans so I can wear anything.

Good morning from Suffolk where it keeps changing from overcast to sunny and back again. Coffee has been had and the bin has been emptied and needs retrieving.

For the third morning running i can hear in the distance one of those two stroke strimmer/brush cutter type things being used, but rather than running it at a steady speed, the operator seems to be constantly pressing and releasing the power switch thingie revving it like a teenager on their first moped.

On school days, the caretaker of the primary school over the way gets his leaf blower thingy out and gives it a good session around the playground. I have no idea why or how those things manage to make so much noise.

Other features of the local soundscape include low-flying planes on their approach to Heathrow. They tend to use a lower (and therefore louder) flightpath when there's cloud cover. Also, the slightly haunting bib-bib-bib of the kidnapped Lime bike. The local kids (and the not-so-young) have learnt a technique for unlocking the hire bikes. The bikes refuse to engage their motors and give out a bib-bib distress call. They slowly come into earshot and continue getting louder and louder while the bike is in motion. This is more of a weekend phenomenon because the kids are all busy teaching themselves bicycle abduction techniques in their leaf-free playgrounds.

We had a light shower of rain a little while ago. It isn't going to help the washing on the line to dry.

Warm and sticky out. WFH today so lunch break was to go over the fence onto the field and cut down some of the brambles and nettles as they have a habit of invading our garden. The cat run needed a good chop, as quite a few nettles had encroached into it. These have been chopped and removed. Nettles are one of those things that push through any ground covering, so I just keep on top of it. I was instructed not to chop the blackberry bushes though - should make easy picking in a month or so.

It's not our land but there is a field, then an embankment that rises to our houses. The council have given up on the field (used to be a school football pitch), so one of the neighbours runs over the 'walking path' around the edge with his mower once in a while to keep it useable. The embankment is covered in blackberries and also self seeded cherry trees which I've had to keep under control for the last 30 years as they can get huge - all started from one small tree, that then completely coverer our garden. We chopped that down, but have many others to keep the height in check.
