Evening Co-op trek to dispose of masses of accummulated bubble wrap (largely fron the bird feeder packaging). Hoped to pick up a jar of Tiptree Strawberry Conserve but they have stopped stocking it seems. All the ones they had would need far more than a couple of scones now and then to meet there use by once opened dates.
Refilling the cupboard was a pain as everything seemed larger than it was before.

It's been a warm, humid and mostly sunny day here chez Casa Reynard.

Slept well. Spent the morning writing. Also had to water the tomatoes, because in spite of yesterday's rain, the planters were bone dry. Mind you, that's not surprising given how much fruit they've set.

Spent the afternoon watching the cycling / listening to the cricket. Also picked the first of my plum crop.

At tea time, I poddled off to Tesco. I'd only planned on going in, doing my shopping, and coming home via the community orchard to check on the fruit in there. But that got kiboshed, because it was well worth my while waiting for final reductions.

Came home with a tray of posh cooked chicken, a tub of marinated anchovies, two tubs of coleslaw, a focaccia, a tiger baguette, a packet of wholemeal wraps, four chocolate croissants, a job lot of bog roll and a tray of free range eggs i.e. five boxes of half a dozen each.

Lovely supper of a tomato, mozzarella, avocado & basil salad, some of the focaccia and a :cuppa:

A quiet evening is planned.

A very good day out today. A bit of sunshine, a bit of cloud cover, not too warm and - best of all - a light and mostly tail wind.

Nice little 43 mile ride from Ely to Stowmarket which included trying out a bit of rough track and gravel between Ely & Barway as a way of getting to Soham without having to use the A142 for future rides. It's not suitable for a road bike, but then neither are most of Cambridgeshire's normal roads
Pub lunch of sausage, bacon, egg, beans, chips and a couple of pints before back on the train again for home. Still got the munchies!

I think I shall watch Bangers & Cash

I've had a rather mundane day. Finished work at 1:30. I went for a walk around town and got a few bits and pieces that I needed.

I bought a packet of envelopes in the stationery shop. A different brand from my usual, which were sold out. They're described as "superior" envelopes. Not immediately obviously why they are superior, but they cost more. They maybe have slightly thicker paper, but on the other hand, I need to lick them to seal. Haven't seen that in years.

I then attempted to tidy up my flat and created a bigger mess! It can wait until morning!
