It's been a warm and occasionally sunny day here chez Casa Reynard, after some fairly significant rain overnight.

Sleep was middling. Picked another load of plums from my own tree this morning. Realising I had close to four kilos of plums knocking around, I used those, plus some from the community orchard to make a batch of plum & ginger jam. Well, I prepped and cooked the fruit this morning, and when I got back from the vet, made the jam. N.B. I used fresh root ginger, not ground or candied.

Took the Lexter to the vet for another check up. The hole in her groin still isn't quite healed, but Ruth is VERY pleased with how it's progressing. She's almost ready to sign madam off. So it's antibiotics till Sunday night, then photograph the wound on Monday and fire it off in an e-mail. Then we'll make a decision as to where to go from here.

Had a lovely student vet in on the consult as well - Isle Vets have a mentoring programme, and she loved the Lexter. She was also impressed with Madam's vinyl buster collar, designed, engineered and constructed by yours truly.

So yeah, the consult ended up being a really nice chat, although Lexi did not enjoy being turned turtle so Ruth and the sutdent could look at her titties. Good job I gave Madam a manicure and pedicure this morning, as she was SO wiggly!

Had a lovely supper of quiche, cous cous with lemon, parsley, garlic & olive oil, and a tomato salad.

Penultimate day of the working week completed. More peaceful today as the loudmouth wasn't in the office. Only a half day tomorrow and I will work from home.

Another twenty miles cycled this evening. It stayed dry this time.

As I post, I'm looking at the tree outside my kitchen window. Are those yellow leaves a very early sign of autumn, I wonder. 🤔

Morning.
We had a visit from a Waterboard chappy late last night, after 11 warning is that he would be making noises outside. He was going to lift a manhole cover on our driveway to try to unblock a drain. We were awake and watching the TV at the time. He eventually cleared it just before midnight. Tree roots had caused the blockage. I went out to see if he needed access to another cover but he said that he was now off to Bath to clear another drain. He said that heavy rainfall always causes problems.
