[Flick of the Elbow]

The day has turned out grey with a hint of drizzle and feeling quite cool in the strong wind.

I did the cleaning then went to the gym. Am currently listening to Radio Scotland trying unsuccessfully to block out all the references to Oasis and their fans.

Three races to watch this afternoon, from Arctic Norway, Poland, and the Ain department of France. The Tour of Arctic Norway is always one of my favourites of the year, the scenery is always stunning.

Office day, deferred from Wednesday due to postie delivering the new shoes.
Lunchtime Asda trek to send used coffee pods for recycling and a small shop.
Definitely breezy on the ride home.
Went to eat the apple I had forgot only to find it was rotten.

Thankfully my working day and week is completed and it's been a nightmare one.

A longish journey tomorrow not really looking forward to it being honest

So no early morning ride tomorrow might try and get a ride in tonight after tea and doing jobs that are required

I think I might try to cycle to that new planet in that solar system. It's only 4.5 light years away. Should be alright if I take a few sandwiches.

It's been a warm, breezy and sunny day here chez Casa Reynard.

Sleep was OK, albeit interrupted by lady issues. This morning was spent making a test batch of jam. That was because I'd found some bullaces or damsons that were quite sweet for such, so figured they'd pass muster. Jam was lovely and a gorgeous purple colour, but pretty sharp. Just the thing for toast, but it could do with having been a bit sweeter. I've loads of said plums, so will pick them for more jam. But I'll add some greengages just to sweeten things up a little in the next batch as opposed to using more sugar. I make my jams with a 1:1 fruit to sugar ratio, because I find that when you add more sugar, it begins to mask the flavour of the fruit.

A luncheon of tea and toast was had. Watered all the planters, then off for a few more errands. Went to the village to drop off some plum crumble for a friend, but she was helping out an elderly and disabled neighbour, so instead of just sitting in the car, I went to the community orchard for a leg stretch and to snack on some greengages.

Crumble duly delivered, then off into town. B&M for some cat litter - they had loads of the one I like in stock, so grabbed two bags. Then to Waitrose (which is opposite B&M) for some extra ingredients for some forthcoming culinary efforts. Picked up everything I wanted (carrots, salad onions, basil) on yellow sticker, so happy me.

Cat has been fed (Felix AGAIL with saithe & salmon), and soon it will be time to feed me.

I am listening to Birmingham Phoenix v Trent Rockets.

A nice 6.5 miles pootle on the local cycle/foot paths completed.

An evening hot chocolate went down well on my return.

Someone once said,'It is finished'.Well i am pinching that,today i finally finished the staircase.i cheated a bit,i did not use two coats of white undercoat on the woodwork.I was totally fed up.Well it looks ok,emulsion looks solid and the satinwood has covered,but i do not want to use that make of paint ever again.We have three rooms to do before we put it on the market to sell.that is after the father in law goes on his last journey.So at this moment i am quaffing the first of two pints of Harpers Ruby Red Ale bought from Aldi at a wonderful price of £1-29p i think.Time for a rest,next week it is food week.tuesday Wetherspoons and my mates,Thursday orf to look at father in laws house see if it's ok,then on to Normoss for fish and chips,yummy.The sale might be done before we go away to Portugal.

New Sainsbury's app offers and true to form cheapish milk, of which I only had a drop left, so the car got used for the first time in over a week. Yellow sticker unsmoked mackerel dated tomorrow amongst the other acquisitions.
Called in at Waitrose on the return for two 8 packs of yoghurts and the latest store paper.
At home went to seal a vacuum bag for one of the mackerel fillets and my vacuum sealer failed. Both fillets plastic bagged instead into the freezer.

A much needed couple of hours out on the quieter lanes in the sunshine this afternoon followed by fish fingers, scrambled eggs and beans for tea.

The food has been prepped for Saturday's day trip and all I need to do in the morning is make a flask of coffee and a bottle of cold drink before I go. I've also set the alarm clock in the hope that I can get out of the house and complete the 2 hour+ drive to Silverstone in time to see a fair bit of qualifying as well as have a wander round the paddock before the racing.

This evening's hot chocolate has just reached drinking temperature.

Working week completed, thankfully as it's been a very busy and stressful week at work.

It stayed dry but is pretty blustery all day. I thought about a bike ride but I felt tired today. I took an evening to beach for a little coastal perambulation, fish and chips and time spent looking out to sea.
