As the sunshine finally made more than a fleeting appearance mid afternoon, I made the effort to go out and get the needed weedkiller and used it as an opportunity to check the set-up of the new Garmin. Pleasantly warm but with a very keen breeze in the open areas.

The rest of the day has followed a familiar pattern with very little else having been done and it now being about hot chocolate time. A helping of ice cream may be had to go with it.

Another bright, hot and sunny day.

When the bottom bracket broke yesterday, I was standing on the pedals climbing a hill. I hit my buttock hard on the nose of the saddle. The end result is it must be bruised and I have had a pain the ar$e all day sitting at work. I also must have hurt my back a bit and have a stiff ankle. My ankle was cut too, something I didn't realise until I took off my sock. I suppose I could have gone over the bars.

As my Pioneer is awaiting repairs, I used the Dawes Galaxy. My usual evening route is quite a bit on unclassified roads with poor surface so the the 28mm tyres aren't ideal.

I must remove the bottom bracket from the Pioneer at the weekend and work out what width it is and get order one. It's coming into the time of year I want it as it has hub dynamo and good lights.

The bottom bracket clearly had a bit damage from before, as you can see only part of it is a fresh break. I assume this is the result of being T-boned by a Citroën a few years ago.

You don't realise your own strength, admit it!

My laptop is glacially slow this evening. I suspect a windows update may be the culprit.

You were lucky to stay on the bike, when I had a crank break I was on the floor before I even knew what happened. I got a hint when I saw the right pedal still on my foot and the bike several yards back down the road.

Mine went a few weeks after I grounded the pedal on a corner.
