I was up before six this morning. Double checked my son's room and he was fast asleep - he was supposed to be in Chadderton for 6am (12 miles away) for his last practice before his HGV Test. Doh. Anyway, got there a bit late but still in time for his test, which he passed ! Phew.

I then had to drive there with the battery booster as his car was dead. Turned out it was actually a loose terminal connection to the battery, which is in the boot of a BMW. My booster showed it wasn't pushing any juice to the battery at the 'terminal' in the engine bay, so son had to empty his boot to get to the battery, bingo, as soon as the panel was removed, the car's electrics fired up.

I suppose I got away with it as I wasn't going very fast at the time. Low speed, high torque situation.

It happened right at the top of a very short, sharp climb that I am just about able to manage on single speed, so was out of the saddle but at maybe 6 MPH. With no foot attachment, I just sort of landed heavily on my feet.

When I was a kid I had a bike with pawls in the freewheel that used to keep letting go without warning, but I got away with that because it never happened at speed. The broken crank occurred just as I got out of the saddle to maintain my momentum, perhaps 15-16mph (which is fast by my standards).

We had "low" cloud today. As we're about 400m above sea level this is a relative term, but it made the valley look good.

Oof - just bought in the food for daughter whilst we're on holiday. £130 later... gulp. And I've given her £50 to top up the fresh food stuffs when she needs. Avocado, smoked salmon, fresh pasta.... bankrupt before we go !

Just had a very low Apache straight over the house, could only have been 50m above the roof, followed a few minutes later by two Chinooks passing in front of the house, one of them with a piece of wheeled artillery slung under it. I was too slow to grab any pictures !

Edit - they just returned, presumably having deposited said artillery gun at the barracks. Caught one of them this time…

Who on here has the keys to my bike storage?

I've lost them somewhere so had to use the flat-bar Giant FCR this morning for a ride to Holmfirth. Tired now

The missing bike storage keys have been found. The day after I had the lock changed . They've been sat outside at the front of the house for everyone to see since Sunday

@Reynard - your missing 17mm socket wasn't with them.

I just picked up a prescription from the pharmacy and the receptionist intercepted me before I left to tell me that I was overdue a blood pressure check. So, 121 over something and then she did it again having started a conversation and it was 129 over something. I did another reading when I got home because it was a bit higher than I would have expected. 111/66. She was happy with a reading within the normal range, I was happy with the 111/66 reading because it was around what I would have expected.

On my way out this afternoon I was overtaken by a horse box with one of those Northern Ireland registration plates which have a prefix of three letters followed by four digits. The prefix letters were GGZ (as in Gee Gees)

Post WAH gave the front brakes on the ebike a lever bleed. Did the trick with air bubbles appearing and at the end brake fluid clearly visible in the lever cylinder.
Then it had an evening visit to Sainsbury's bike stands whilst I made use of the weeks app prices on ther last day.
About to leave and a very illegal looking ebike cruised up with no motion from the pedals and a battery the size of which on a legal ebike would probably bring it to a stop by its weight.
Then another passed me on the way home, less aggressive looking but definitely heading upwards with no pedal motion.
The Garmin seems to have gone in sympathy with the Wahoo as nothing has uploaded.
