I assure you, the wind there was very very raw. This morning, though, was still and clear, and the hills behind Calais were visible.

I'm now on the road back to London. Eurostar has just disgorged a tourist load of cars on to the M20. Why do the Belgians drive like that?

Oh God, the Belgians! It's the genes.
They are the self-gratification artists of Europe.
I'm part Belgian, found that out later. I lived and worked there most of my career. Understand them? Never!
Driving? There are people in their 70s who didn't have to pass a driving test
Just one part of their weirdness.

3 languages, a government system that is language based and can cover multiple layers. Compromise is a national sport.

There is a lot of stuff that is about relation, favour and influence trading. Hard to explain if you haven't experienced it

A grey and blustery day here chez Casa Reynard, but the cloud cover is now lifting. We had some drizzle earlier that wasn't forecast.

Slept well. I've had a quiet day so far. The main task was weighing Madam so that the vet can prescribe her some painkillers / anti inflammatories without me having to take her in, and so that we know what dose to give her. I am glad I switched vets, as Isle are the best in the area. The vets I used to go to have gone downhill after the vet and practice manager (husband & wife) retired a couple of years ago, and it's been like a revolving door in there since.

I have also put the sage I dried into a jar, and it is now in the kitchen cupboard devoted to herbs and spices.

Lovely luncheon of a chunk of Walkers pork pie, a slice of toast with some cheese and a :cuppa:

Now watching thirty ladies playing with a funny-shaped ball, and following the golf and football via text commentary.

Tell me about it! The parental is Belgian. Ergo I am half so.

I have a :cuppa: and a Min Spy.

A lovely sunny and warm day with a bit of a stiff breeze picking up mid afternoon here in Suffolk. Really enjoyed the 44 miles of shopping and just riding around on the bike earlier on.

Tea will be started shortly - sausages, new potatoes & peas - and at some point later on I'll have to make the rolls for tomorrow's day out. And remember to purchase the entrance ticket as well.
