Thank you all for your comments on school libraries and their use. Bearing in mind the cost of setting up a Library with books, I think schools might prefer to spend that money on a Teaching Assistant. That is just my opinion.

Pre Storm Amy shopping trip to Sainsbury's and Waitrose; the latter ostensibly for 4 pack nakd bars 75p cheaper than in the former. Nasty 3 way temp lights encountered outbound so a rat run to avoid them on the return. Sign a bit further on for more roadworks, thats to put in a new pedestrian / cyclist crossing but of course far too many motorists cannot see the point of it judging by local social media.

It's been a warm, grey and sort of breezy day here chez Casa Reynard.

Slept well, but my get-up-and-go is still AWOL. I wonder whether it's met up with Biggs' somewhere... Had a gentle morning albeit a busy one. I've picked a load of ripe and semi-ripe tomatoes, leaving only the green ones on the plants. I'd rather have them ripen in a tray in the utility room than have them ruined by the incoming weather.

Didn't fancy luncheon, but I sat down with a and the writing. After, I went for a bicycular bimble. Had a sniff around one of my walnutting spots, but only found eleven nuts. There are a lot of smashed shells, so suspect the local rook population has been making the most of what was left of the crop.

I also went to the community orchard to pick some late season dessert apples ahead of the incoming storm. I have two trays-worth of New Rock Pippin and one of Barnack Beauty (both storing varieties) and I picked a bunch of Cockett's Red for the fruit bowl. When the weather permits, I will go back for some more of the latter.

Cat has been fed, and now it's time to go and feed me.

Had a lovely supper of the last of the sausage & lentil casserole with a nice big helping of clapshot. And there's a portion of apple & blueberry crumble with my name on it for later.

The potatoes for the clapshot were nearly free, on account of some rolling off a trailer and onto my drive this afternoon. Wasn't quite enough of them, so added a few from the YS lot I picked up on Monday.
